I am trying to find a nice low power scope or red dot scope with good eye relief distance for my new AR. I have only had reflex sights or full sized scopes on them before so I’m new to this optics field. Shopping online for scopes is hard because you don’t really know if you like it until you get a look through it but no local stores have a good stock. So I’m turning yet again to the THR family for some help. I’m trying to not break the bank I feel like if I’m not getting a high powered rifle scope to shoot 300 or 500 yards I don’t need to spend 500 or a thousand dollars on a scope (but I guess I have been wrong before). So here it is I’m looking at under a $300 budget(but less is always better and much less is much better I’m not against a $60 optic if they are proven to work good) for something from 1x to a max of 3x power or less, good for taking quick close range shots but also able to be on at no more then 100 yards and the most important part is a good eye relief distance so I don’t have to wrap my eye lid around it. Hopefully it exists or maybe I will just have to suck it up and spend a new rifles amount of money on a quality optic. As always thanks everyone before hand for the help!

leupold 2x7 verix 1 and 3x9 verix 1 scopes was were sale for under 200.00 at a local GS last month.

Nothing wrong with that ^ :D

If your looking for a 1/1.5-4x and dont NEED target turrets, Id suggest looking at the hunting variants offered by Leupold, Nikon, and Weaver...you usually save some cost, by not getting the target turrets.

I actually went thru this recently for my short/med range bolt gun, and ended up with a Bushnell Custom Gold 1.5-6x32 (which is just a rebranded Weaver Kaspa) mostly because i wanted the illuminated reticle, 30% rebate, and Cameralandny hapend to have them on sale at the time. Decent glass and reticle, but not as nice as any of the 1-4/5/6s ive seen from others in the 200-300 dollar price range.

I think one of the Primary Arms Prism scopes would fit your needs well. They are available in 2.5x, 3x, 5x and are under $300 (mount included). The eye relief on these are ok, but not outstanding. Even the much more expensive Trijicon Acogs have not so great eye relief on these kinds of optics.

Another option might be the Primary Arms 50k Hour red dot. You could always add a magnifier for longer shots and still be under your budget. They also have a 1x Prism coming out this summer, Cyclops,. I Have been really happy with all their stuff.

The ACSS reticle is awesome for ranging the longer shots. Fast and reliable.

Magnifier http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-3x-ler-red-dot-magnifier-gen-iv-pa3xlergeniv Mount http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-flip-to-side-magnifier-mount-standard-height-pamqf-01 They also have a quick release for a little more.

I would also consider 1-4 or 1-6 LPV for your application even though they have a little more on the high end then what you want, they are fast on 1x for up close and the extra magnification at longer ranges is nice.

There are other option than Primary Arms such as Vortex and Burris that have similar options, but i really like the overall value of Primary Arms. Their customer service is also outstanding

I have a Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot on my home defense AR. It is a very good sight for the money.
If you want to get out to 500 yards I'd recommend a scope. A 2-7 or 3-9 would work well. Leupold VX-1(Freedom) are good so are Nikon's in the same price range.
I find myself using and wishing for higher magnification more often than lower power.

Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 x 20. They work great, clear glass, and repeatable with exposed resettable turrets. Normally $299ish but I found a pair for under $190/ea. You’ll get 4” or so of eye relief in an AR specific scope. I also have the 3-9 x version for my AR but I normally shoot RDS and irons. If you’re wanting a decent dot then Palmetto State is running the Vortex SPARC with ammo special. Around $270 with 420 rounds on stripper clips.

Anyone have experience with Bushnell Incinerate red dot scope? I’ve have Bushnell a on a ton of my hunting rifles but never their AR optics

I like a 1-4X20 scope for that use. A 2-7X can be found at better prices, but 2X isn't any advantage over 3X on a 3-9X scope. If you want to get off quick shots up close something with 1X on the low end is the way to go. There are some scopes out there now that are 1-6X or even 1-8X that are becoming pretty popular as all around AR optics. Not sure if you can get ine under $300, but I know you can for under $400. But even 4X is adequate for big game or personal defense out to at least 300 yards.

Take a look at the Primary Arms 1-6x scope... The reticle (ACSS) is awesome and can be used for fast shooting up close and has a BDC to range out further when you need to. It also has pretty good glass for the money because it comes in under $300. I've been very happy with mine.

No experience on rifle, but I looked at it in a Bushnell outlet. Looked like a quality scope; clear field.

Sounds like these fit the bill. All have relatively good reputations. I own 2 scopes out of the Bushnell AR Optics line (though not the 1-4, I own a 2-7 and 4.5-18) and have been impressed with the clarity for the price
