Found a Unicorn Sig P365

I'll wait and let others do the Beta testing in regards to the SIG-P365. I did not acquire a S&W-Shield-9mm until S&W offered the rebates on Gen1 before introducing Gen2
That is the same timing for me on my Shield, but I guess I am a Bate Tester for Sig now. :)

I really have no desire to own a Sig 365. I already found the most perfect gun out there for my Personal likes, weight, height and shootablity. However I do enjoy learning about other guns. Walkalong did a fantastic job on his review. I like the way he showed pics, went into detail about grip sizes Etc.
I also understand marketing. A lot of what is going on now is total "HYPE". Sig is a well know name of quality firearms and a new product has just been launched. It will feed Fresh fodder for the many gun magazines, YOUTUBE reviewers and on and on. The Biggest thing I see in the gun, is the fact that the gun will accept a larger magazine. While this is maybe something desirable for many, it does nothing for myself. Just means more weight and expensive mags. They tout the size, yet there are and have been firearms out there that are the same size or smaller.
A year from now, once the HYPER Brush Fire burns down and starts to fizzle, it will just be another small 9mm just like all the others. And of course, another Brush Fire will start a new Burn to take it's place and once again fresh fodder for Gun Mags.
You know what I find more interesting? Human nature and the art of mass marketing. By the way, is the Hoola Hoop still around?

I was at a gun shop yesterday. I asked one of the clerks if the New Sig 365 was in. His eyes lit up and he could barely contain himself. Said they sold out and have 16 people on a waiting list!! He then went on to tell me how this lady who owned a M&P Shield shot one and improved her group from 5" to 3". I had to hold back a laugh. My first thought was so? Maybe the smaller grip just suited her better. But hardly a endorsement to spend $500.00 on a new sub-compact 9mm.
Enjoy the circus while it is in town folks. Might be a whole year before one returns.

I submit there is more than just hype to the 365. It is in the same size/weight category as 6 and 7 round 9 mm pistols yet holds 10 rounds. That is not insignificant.

Anyone interested in such a pistol will have to strongly consider the benefits that a p365 offers in capacity while sacrificing nothing in size and quite little or sometimes nothing in weight.

The other similar pistols only have a lower price point to differentiate themselves currently.

Even the LC9s will take a 9 round magazine without adding much size/weight, the Nano 8 round mag etc. I sure there are others. I very seldom carry them. In what I feel a realistic assault will most likely be over in a few shots at the most anyway. If you feel you need more ammo than of course that is your preference. Heck, I do not even carry extra mags. I know some folks that do carry a number of them. Each to is own. I do admit that I do carry my Pico even if I Carry my small nine. Hey! I even love to carry my LCR9mm with only 5 shots. Nice light weight, easy to carry appendix style.
Life is good! This is what is great about America!! So many choices!

Any gun you have with you beats the super duper one you left at home. I have carried a .22 Mag and a .32 ACP a lot (A LOT) of miles since 1978. I love the threads that said I am insane for carrying such a pitiful little caliber. :D

I am glad the OP found a P-365, as he wanted one, and it also got me to call Academy and end up with one myself, as I have been really wanting to get one.

Like any carry gun, they won't be for everyone, but some folks will love them.

And besides, many of us simply like to try new guns, because, after all, we are firearms enthusiasts. In the last four years this is my fifth handgun purchase (Also bought an AR upper on sale), a 1941 Official Police, a S&W 1905 (Two sweet old revolvers), an XDm OSP (Love it), a Shield, and the P-365. Barely over one a year is serious restraint in my book.

Just think about 10 years ago when the tiny carry options were .380 and under, with mostly .32 and under (When did Kel-Tec bring out the .380 version?), and today we have micro nines that are manageable. As shooters, the last 10 or 15 years has been great times, even in the revolver world.

This is all true, but I think you would also have to agree that the marketing hype has given us a plethora of gun choices to fit the personal preferences of nearly anyone. Thirty years ago this was not a thing. Even ten years ago, our choices were drastically more limited. Now we are paralyzed for the sheer bounty of choices we have, and the overall trend has been towards better and more varied features- all paid for by a market with a lot of eager early adopters.

Yes, the price will only go down!
The price is not the only reason to wait a year. First run guns are so often getting upgrades for short coming as most of us know. I learned a long time ago to have a little patience. It is tempting to buy with all the hype, I have done it before. It will be interesting to see how well the magazines hold up, the cost of them, the demand etc. Small 9mm's are a really aggressive market right now. It is basically a buyers market. I picked up my Nano for only $300.00. The Price of the LC9S have dropped, the new economy version is out, I have seen many rebates on other guns and on and on.
$500.00 is a lot of money for a small 9mm. I have only had my Nano for two months, have bought two holsters, and added a additional 4 magazines and getting ready to add more. That $300.00 is turning into $500.00 real quick. Of course the Sig is a fine gun, I have no doubt. But is it a "Best Buy" dollar for dollar? Not saying it isn't, but just something to think about. There are a lot of really nice 9mm's out there.

Jeb Stuart

You make a lot of good points and since I already have a very nice sub-compact 9mm. (Kahr CM9), I'm also in no hurry to "invest" in another CCW; at least not until it has a proven track record and the price has come down a bit. Then we'll see.

I handled one this past weekend at our local reloading shop. Very neat little gun. Almost the exact same size as a 43 but feels a little better in my hand. Better sights and arguably better trigger than the 43 out of the box. I would have to take / cut that pinky extension off though to make it a touch smaller. Not really a pocket gun the way I normally dress.

It reminds me or looks similar to my LC9S. Is the chassis stainless steel or aluminum? Not crazy about the big take down lever and slide release. Otherwise appears to be a nice small 9mm.I like the fact that it comes with night sights and you can also purchase different size front sights.

Learned my lesson from the Kimber Solo disaster to never be a beta tester again.
Marketing hype is just that, and gun rags lie.

A year from now there will be a better body of knowledge to make an intelligent decision. And the used case at the LGS will have the cheaper.

I got to test fire one at a local event. In hand it felt closer to g42 than 43 size. I am left handed and not a great shot with a pistol, but it shot better for than than the 42 I own or the sig x5 I shot right after that. Go figure. I got 5 rounds, and they fired fine, though the slide did not lock back on empty. Event guy said it had been happening and blamed a very used magazine. I dunno.
Regardless, I really liked it. Trigger was nice, but not world changing. Likewise, I liked the sights and grip better than Glock, but not overwhelmingly so. I was planning on selling g the 42 and buying a 43, but I think I'm going to get the sig instead. It's only $50 more than the Glock. Unless I can find a used 43 for 350-375 otd. I guess that's my take away. Sig is $100 better gun than the Glock.

Isn't that the truth, though. I got a P365 for $575 after taxes. Haven't even shot it yet. Haven't carried it, because the holster maker had a 13-week lead time. Holster and mag carrier was another $170. Enough ammunition to be comfortable with it is another $100.

Switching carry guns gets expensive!
