Question? I have read mixed info about these Romanian drum magazines. Some say that they are actually Chinese made with a Romy import stamp. Others have no doubt that they are truly Romanian. Regardless, mine have functioned flawlessly.

I have a couple of "old" Chinese 75 round drums and looking at both, these seem to be identical. My question is...are these actually Chinese or near perfect copies? Regardless, for you AK owners, these are pretty damn nice. If for no other than novelty reason, you might want to pick up one of these while they are still around to be purchased.

Anyhow. Does anyone know?

Back in the day when we got them into the shop, we never advertised the country of origin to my knowledge, we would sell those damned things like hot cakes. Especially to the Class 3 crowd. They ran well. Only problems I could remember were operator errors. Now I will say this, way back when Chinese products did have a seriously higher quality finish than the crap on todays market. I do remember that they can wrapped in a wax paper with cosmoline. I would spend hours cleaning them out with solvent and brake clean, wipe them down with light oil and hang them up. Looking at the old one I have it does say "Made in Romania" on the spring crank and no other markings anywhere. However its not hard to believe that some did not have markings at all and maybe were marketed as Chinese. It is also possible that the manu. sold off a bunch to another outfit and they marketed them through another country. Dealing with firearms tends to have a lot of various conjectures associated with thing. Basically people guess at what they do not know or are sold a story along with their stuff.
