Trying to find a second 6rd factory mag and half of the usual places I shop at (Buds, SMGA, Sportsmans, PSA etc) are either out of stock, or push $30 and above with shipping. Any particular online store you could recommend ?

Search ebay. I've managed to find a couple for different guns there for quite a bit less than any other source I could find with free shipping and both brand new in the original packaging.

I’m a bit hesitant to get mags off eBay to be perfectly honest...

To each his own. Like I said these were brand new in the original packaging, the same thing you would get at a gunshop or midwayusa, etc. Each has worked perfectly but if if you wish to spend more go ahead.

Isn't that the going rate for an LCP magazine?

I can't help you with the price, but for availability, here are some options other than your "usual suspects"...

Top Gun Supply https://www.topgunsupply.com/magazines/ruger.html

Ruger http://shopruger.com/Centerfire-Pistols/products/5030/

Brownell's https://www.brownells.com/magazines...azines/index.htm?avs|Make~~Model_1=Ruger__LCP

Only buy NIB unopened mags on Ebay if you are worried. The ad states if they are new, unopened or used.

Ebay, Brownells, Midway are USUALLY the cheapest for mags.
My last few LCP mags were from Midway.

why? if they are factory mags what difference does it make where you buy them?
I'll admit, I've got no practical experience with eBay, but I have a better feeling buying stuff from places like Top Gun Supply, Brownell's, Ruger, MidwayUSA, etc., rather than "Fred" on eBay. The couple of bucks I may save with an eBay purchase pales in comparison to the the confidence of getting a properly functioning product that I count on to work properly.

My confidence level that I'm getting exactly what I'm expecting is greater with the major retailers than with "Fred", who may be a great guy and completely reputable, but I really know nothing about him.

Admittedly, there are probably not a whole lot of fake LCP mags around, but as somebody that shoots 1911's, I can tell you there are an awful lot of fake 1911 mags floating around. Buying from a known retailer is a good hedge, in my opinion, on getting a quality product.

A very often repeated truism here and elsewhere on gun forums is that most feeding problems are caused by faulty magazines.

So whenever someone is selling their mags, there’s always a question why.

As to the new factory mags. It’s easy enough to take the item out and re-insert it back into the original packaging - depending on the packaging. I don’t bother keeping old boxes but I know plenty of people that keep the original box for almost every widget they bought. Second, there’s tons of outright fakes, or stolen quality rejects on eBay being passed for legit stuff. Not saying that someone would go through trouble of counterfeiting LCP mags, but generally if an item must perform 100% and there’s no way to immediately validate it, I don’t buy it there.

I am also an amateur photographer and I learned long ago that if a particular lens is known to have image quality variations, you never want to get it off eBay.

Forget Ebay then. If you don't trust the people there. THR folks have given you other choices.
