Here's one for the experts. I Bought a new Ruger LCP and it came w/ one 6rd mag. I bought a second factory mag new and is in every way identical to the one that came with the gun, I stripped the mag down to investigate and there are no burrs or imperfections whatsoever. 100% identical but still for some reason when I try to load the sixth round I have to force it until i feel it give and it pops in, then when I try to insert it into the mag well, which BTW is also 100% free of obstructions It will not "click" in. I have tried to force it a lil and it still will not click in. Why Why Why Why? Both mags are identical but I can't fit the sixth round in without force but right before it gives I hear a lil clicking sound like there is some kind of burr or bumb preventing the spring or the follower from moving that extra 1/8 of an inch from moving down. Please, any and all information would be appreciated. I spent $30 on the new factory mag and it is the third Mag I have bought in a week that will not work. All from the same shop too and they would not take them backm I bought an M1A aftermarket mag that will not click in to the mag well and also bought a 1911 mag that will not click in to gun as well. Very frustrating buying 3 brand new mags in one week at the cost of about $65 and none of them fit...Aaaaaarggghhh!!!!!!

There was a recall by Ruger on certain LCP's (the early ones) and I believe part of that recall had to do with replacing the magazine detent with a metal one. I am going by memory on this, but from what I recall, the OEM ones in some early models were in some way plastic or hard resin material - not metal.

The other thing I would do that you have not listed is I would mic the rectangular opening in the front-right portion where the magazine detent secures the magazine in place. I would make sure the rectangular opening is exactly the same size as it is on a mag that works, and the exact same distance from the top of the magazine to the rectangular opening.

Other than that, I cannot think of anything else.

Why not call Ruger Customer Service tomorrow and explain your problem to them. As previous said, there was a recall on the earlier LCP's for some type of magazine problem I believe. Ruger would know if there are other problems an just might replace your magazine if they feel it's defective. Ruger people are good people to work with on a problem. :)

Best idea yet!
Call them, they may be happy to take your magazines AND gun back to make everything RIGHT!

Thanks for all input, I made sure I got one of the new LCP's with new 371 serial # and as I have said before I have confirmed that there is no difference whatsoever in the mag that works and the one that doesn't. I will be calling ruger.to see if I can't figure this out. TY

That's the best thing to do, especially since you didn't get many replies here with other users who might have had the exact same problem. Somewhere, there is a defect - it could be the mag and/or it could be the gun itself.

They will make it right for you and, although you will be without it for a while, you can then enjoy it the rest of your life.:)
