My own custom built savage 10 :
Savage 10 receiver I took off of a pawn shop .243
I did the accutrigger work myself making a set screw to adjust tension
I cerakoted the parts myself
Ptg bolt and handle
Installed a new Shilen select match barrel; 24” target bull, chambered in .260 Remington VLD, wet sanded and polished to mirror finish
Stock is Bobby Hart long range stock, clear coated
I bedded the entire action with accuglass and floated the barrel
Mounts are DNZ one piece
Scope is Sightron Siii 6-24- 50mm First Focal

I have finished bedding the action and mounted the scope this morning. I test fired it to check the headspace with comparator, I like what I see. Brand new Lapua brass measuring 1.620” and my fired case is 1.622” . I will make some rounds soon and see what she will do. I already have Imr 4350 so I’ll start with that. I bought Hornady 140 eld match, and Barnes 140 matchburners to try. I sure hope it shoots well!

Very nice looking rifle, especially for your first build! Let us know how it does with your handloads!

Great looking piece! Do share your range results. I’m way overdue for a range trip myself, but with temps over 100 here in central TX, it might be a while.

Looking like 100 plus degrees next couple of days here so it may be later this week before I go shoot groups. On the other hand, it’s worrying me how it will shoot , so it may get the best of me and try despite the heat!! Thanks for the compliments, I do like how it turned out, and spent a lot of time making everything fit as perfect as I could get it without special tools. I will say this, the picture of this stock does it no justice, in person it is a thing of beauty! Hats off to Revolution stocks, it’s a nice, well built stock for $260.

870DAB7A-3199-43F1-A6BA-2567E88C1EEE.jpeg Couldn’t stand it , worked up a load to try!! Worked up to 44.1 grains of imr 4350 and 2700 fps. I took 5 brand new cases straight out the box , passed a chamfering tool on the necks , and loaded them up. Shot the 5 back to back in the blazing heat, .75” at 100. I’m pleased!! I felt like I pulled the one to the right, not used to the gun. So I think I have something that will work here. Lots of fun doing it yourself!!

When this heat wave breaks , I will work on tuning up this load. I need to see if this Imr 4350 is going to be temp sensitive as some say it is.

Beautiful looking soda bottle and pop Tenkiller for sure and I'm digging on that furniture :) ...

2A7FED87-CA5D-4F87-9857-4404D9685FFA.png After shooting around 60 Barnes 140 matchburners and testing many combos at 300 yds., my average 5 shot groups were running around 3.5”. I felt the rifle can do better so I moved on to Hornady eld match 140s. What a difference! I shot a ladder test with them and had 3 different powder charges group together at 300 yds at .75”.. I made 2 batches of 5 to try at 2 different powder weights. Shot them at 300 and one group came in at 2.1” and he other at 2.2”. Both running about a 1.75” vertical. I shot the 10 pretty quick so the barrel got VERY hot, and still put those groups for me. It’s looking like this will be my load, I will make 20 and test them at 600. For a home built rifle I am pleased. The pic is the ladder test on the eld match bullets. The little cluster on top is a .9 change in Imr 4350.
