Example of what I mean: Anybody here play "overwatch"?

I've been hooked on this game for the last year or so. I don't normally like first person shooters, but this one appeals to me for some reason.

Anyway I was all excited to seem them introduce a new character who is armed with a lever-gun, until I saw the pointed bullets being loaded into a tube magazine (about 21 seconds into the video).

Sometimes I wish I could enjoy something without noticing all the inaccuracies... it's not easy. Espcially when the game contains all kinds of unrealistic stuff (like the talking gorilla) and that stuff doesn't phase me, but pointed bullets in a tube mag does.

Another example... if I'm watching a western and I see a cowboy fire more than 6 rounds between reloads, it ruins it for me.

Wondering if anyone else has this problem?

I have trouble with most movies. Hacksaw ridge was pretty good in its accurate, period correct choice of weapons. Older westerns are uniformly terrible, in recent years they have gotten better

Just tell yourself that they are plastic-tipped Leverevolution rounds......or that the gun is chambered in 8mm French Lebel. Either way, your good to go!:D

It hurts movies and video games a bit for me. The opening to Young Guns for example has them using double action Colt revolvers stand in for Colt SAAs. Didn't know they had those in the 1880s go figure.
The Colt Lightning and Thunderer were early double action revolvers that came out in the late 1870's so yep, they did have them back then.

I think Saving Private Ryan is probably the most realistic movie regarding firearms I've seen.

I do get a good laugh out of most movies gun related. Pulling a SA pistol with the hammer down and firing, and someone getting knocked off their feet from a shotgun are two of my favorites.

I do have a Xbox I was given by my wife's nephew that I rarely turn on. Out of all of the shooter games that came with it the Call of Duty regarding WW2 seems to be the most accurate with firearms to me.

I can't stand it when the Foley artist adds cocking sounds to modern striker-fired semi-autos. Even my wife yells at the TV when someone 'cocks' a Glock.

I load and shoot 165 pointed soft points in a .30-30 levergun. That whole recoil-chain-fire thing has been way exaggerated, and tested to be a myth. But pointed FMJs? No I wouldn't.

"and someone getting knocked off their feet from a shotgun "

That's what ruined Open Range for me - otherwise fantastic flick.

if it helps, its obviously not a real design, and there was some rifle made with a twisted magazine fin that kept the primers from making contact. Cant' remember the model, but Im sure someone here does.

Nope. Not one bit. Does make me appreciate firearms accurately portrayed in movies and the rare television show, though.

Can't speak to enjoyment of video games. Don't believe in them. "First person shooter" games seem silly to me (maybe it's because of more'n twenty years in the military and another twenty in various law enforcement capacities). Whole idea strikes me as kinda stupid. Killing other humans, even in video games ... enjoyable? At least motion pictures and TV are attempting to tell stories, hopefully with a decent plot, where there's usually a context for the violence (and if there's not, if it's solely about guns and killing, it's typically not worth viewing).

Remington model 14 pump has a twisted mag tub that allows the use of pointed bullets and primers from making contact, I don't know about any lever actions.

Well you can shoot pointy bullets in a savage 99 but they load from the top, similar to bolt gun, the gun in the game clearly has a side loading gate...
