i shot one many years ago when i was a teen from my buddies dad collection they sure have a lite recoil

My AR-15s have been reproducing so fast in the last couple years I've forgotten how nice, handy and pointable that old little warhorse is!

Carbines are fun for all ages! Everyone from my 70-something Dad to my 12-year old daughter love shooting them-

AO quality has been reported as hit or miss in the past, but the fit and finish on yours looks much better than the last couple I handled at the gunshow. Hope you enjoy it as much as my family does mine.

I bought this Auto Ordnance for $500 otd last month. Put about 150rds through it at the range, and it worked 100%...FMJ, SP, and Critical Defense, 15rd and 30rd mags.

If I were in the market for a carbine I wouldn't buy anything but a US Military GI carbine. But you can expect to spend a $1000 or more for one in good condition. Some of the commercial versions are crap, or so I've been told. Yours may or may not be a good one.

Well mine seems to be pretty good.
I bought it because I have a CMP usgi Inland. It has been my go-to HD longarm, and I wanted to preserve it. The AO Carbine will take the Inland's place for practical uses.

I know I told myself that I wouldn't buy any more rifles for a while after picking up that 6.5 Grendel recently, so I'm glad I didn't buy this little M1 carbine outright, it just followed me home, well, kinda anyway .. a couple months ago I posted a Fred to help identify 4 or 5 unidentified magazines that I found in a box of miscellaneous stuff that came with the reloading bench that I picked up. They were identified as M1 carbine magazines and someone suggested that I hang onto them and find an M1 that I could put them to good use in so I considered it and started looking around here locally to see what I could find. Unfortunately all of the M1's in my neck of the woods were anywhere from $850 - $1,000+, so I decided there's no way I'm spending that kind of $ on a carbine that to me feels like I'm shooting one of the trainers we had back in in Cub Scouts , so I said to heck with it and sold the magazines to somebody on one of my gun groups on MeWe .

Well, fast forward up to yesterday when a friend that I've done a lot of business with touched bases with me about a couple things when I inquired as to what he might have available on the trading table, which is probably why he touch bases with me in the first place & he informed me that he had a nice little M1 carbine that he was looking for $700 or trade on. Well, needless to say he knew what my answer was going to be the question is what he was going to talk me out of for it, ha . In the end we ended up working out a trade deal for my Taurus 1911 & 150 bucks and it followed me home ...

This is a nice clean Auto-Ordnance M1 Carbine & overall I'd say it's pretty nice even though it feels more to me like a little 22 or something that I would teach Cub Scouts how to shoot with in my big hands, but that's alright , I still like it and it'll go nicely with my MiniMini-14's and my Marlin 99 M1-carbine. There's no take up in the trigger at all and I'd say it breaks somewhere between 4.5 - 5 lbs , it has the adjustable peep sight with two different aperture sizes, even though the furniture has a medium Walnut stain on it and it's a tad bit darker than I prefer it still looks really good and the wood under it has both horizontal and vertical striping in it & the sling is just long enough to sling the rifle over one shoulder and brace while shooting. It would be nice if the sling was a tad bit longer for more adjustability but it's not a big deal and for a $700 trade deal with the going rate of surplus M1's in my neck of the woods I think I got a pretty good deal & it also came with 170 rounds of reloadable Factory PMC brass ammo. Now I just need dies and projectiles for them to try out on my new Lyman turrent press ...

My AO has been 100%. Not good enough to get rid of the S.G. though. So I have 2.

Not a bad SD gun, at 100 yards the ballistics are about the same as a .357 at the muzzle.

My Dad was 60 something the first time he shot a Carbine after years of shooting Garands and Mausers. You should have seen the grin on his face after he put 20 rounds through one ragged hole at 50Yd!

Good buy. I have had good luck with Berry's 110 grain plated bullets and H110. You are in for some fun!

You got good money out of that Taurus!!!

Interesting configuration on that carbine. No bayonet lug, no lever safety, no adjustable rear sight. Yours made it out of service without being re-arsenaled or somebody re-fitted it with those early production items, hard to say which. Anyway, you don't see many anymore in that configuration as most were refitted.

USGI carbines are 1K and up most places. You cut a pretty good deal.

Look for a upcoming competition challenge I'll post in March, you get a chance to shoot your carbine in it.

I recently tested my M1A1 a bluesky import so it is not a pristine example of a M1 carbine Prvi ammo shoots the best while Fiocchi shoots lower but same size groups. Far as I'm concerned keeping 10 shots or so in the black @ 100 yds is fine with me, all things considered. It shoots better than my MINI 14 that has been well cared for

Enjoy the little rifle. When people mention "fun gun" the little war baby always comes to mind. Hopefully it will bring you many enjoyable hours shooting it.
