Not much choice out there for the Cattleman, many grips though for original 2nd & 3rd gen Colt SSA and Ruger New Vaquaro.

My question would be, are the grips for those guns oversize as to the Cattleman, or smaller? If larger, they theoretically could be fit to the Cattleman.

Anyone with aftermarket grips on a Colt or Ruger New Vaquaro tried to fit them to a Cattleman?

Altamont grips are pretty reasonably priced and I'd take a chance if I knew they were a little oversized.

What are you looking to change to? Unless you are wanting to change material, I would suggest stripping and refinishing/staining the grips it came with.

I believe Sack Peterson makes stag grips for the Uberti Cattleman. A bit pricey but definitely worth it!

It's a blued model, I'd like to go with something like the Altamont "stag" grips. The Sack Peterson grips are very nice, but I'd be happy with a nice synthetic for 1/4 the price.

Here's a link to Altamont grips, you can see their stag grips, top left: https://www.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/ruger/newvaquero/

I believe Cattleman is the standard size grip frame, same as Colt and the small Ruger Vaqueros. Uberti makes another model with larger grips. I don't know what they call it, but Taylors imports it from Uberti and calls it "Gunfighter." They also make one with smaller grips, "Stallion." I can't speak to the need to fit grips though.

Saaman, thanks for the explanation, very helpful.

35 Whelen, thanks for the info and great photos.

I'm still looking at the Altamont grips, they say their grips for the Colt SAA are oversize due to frame variations, I may try them.
