Sig Sauer P365 weak striker

Sig had whole army of ardent supporters doing multiple thousand rounds tests. Google is your friend. If you really want that gun buy it.

I noticed the odd sound of the striker when I first got my 365. Over 2600 rounds now with 1 FTE that could have been either my reload or the gun.
I had forgoten about the striker sound until this thread.

I thought the same thing about the striker sound. It did sound very anemic, but several hundred rounds proved it's knocking the heck out of the primers.

It's not just the p365, the X5's I've felt have the same weak sound. It's just part of their design I'd say.

The X5 I shot and my p365 have been reliable so far but neither have been shot very much yet. Under 100rds for each.

I love my P365.

I never heard the sound of the striker and said" That sounds weak, I don't want one of those."

Mine is a very early model and no problems here. I have about 500 rds through mine and it will keep on going.

"How the striker sounds?" How about: DOES IT WORK RELIABLY?????

I shoot guns, not listen to them. I listen to CDs and radio, and tv, I don't shoot them. I might make an exception for tv ... sometime .....

I've tried holding it closer and being in a quiet room, but I still can't hear it over the sound of the shot going off...

No, they aren't; sales have been great since its debut, even with the teething issues at the beginning. Mine ahs right about 1000 through it and has gone bang every single time.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. I am getting another one, just because.

No, the 365 isnt great for bear.....

I recently bought a 320 in 40(also not great for bear btw) I absolutely did notice the striker is weaker than any other striker fired gun I own in the 40 at least. It's been 100 percent reliable in 300 or so rounds but time will tell. Also after a few hundred dry fires my snap cap looks new. After 50 from a 226/229 or USP (also likely not the best for bear) the snap caps look pretty abused. No idea how they would look on a Glock (most also not great for bear although I do have a couple in 10mm that may be) since I just dry fire the hell out of them and trust them not to break. (Not to mention they will send a replacement free or if I choose to buy one it's only 20 bucks). I'm sure they will last quite some time but I wouldn't be surprised by light strikes after a few years from actually use. Most guns (IMO) are fired a few hundred rounds in most owners lifes so high wear isn't likely.


don't forget that Sig doesn't pay shipping after 1 year. So that warranty work will cost 55 bucks each pop after that. I'm going today to pick up a new HK where I likely would have bought another Sig 226 instead, if not for that 55 bucks. Great guns either way but worth mentioning.

ETA. I'll add that not only are springs cheap, if they are found to be weak someone like wolff or grayguns will have extra power ones pretty quick. Just look at all the extra power mag springs for every gun made.

I'm not saying either way is correct. But to say they aren't losing sales because of a weak sound simply because they sell pretty good is naive. A gun store owner might have seen otherwise.

Craftsman sold a ton of lawn mowers but on two occasions I saw people buy another mower because, wait for it, ....the craftsman shut off the mowing deck in reverse.

Is it an asinine reason to buy another brand? Absolutely
Should craftsman worry about it or change anything? Nope
But they must certainly did lose sales.

Also I saw a guy say that the glock and XD werent ergonomic and fit "like a 2x4". He went on to buy a USP, which although I have a few has to dimensionally be the closest to a 2x4 of any gun produced. People do take internet BS to heart.

This is just an example of how people make decisions based on what they perceive to be reality. The guns currently on the market sound different than the new Sig, so something must be wrong with the Sig. Mine hasn't had a light strike in 2400 rounds of factory and handloaded ammo.

#16 post by Demi says it best. It's also great to know it isn't a good bear gun and I do hope it breaks pretty soon so that I can get that free fix. 100% reliable for me to date. Good job SIG.

That's strange, because every shop I've been in since the pistol came out says that they can't keep them in stock, some are selling them the same day they get some in and a lot of folks are pre-ordering. Sale are strong.

I've not seen a post before where someone said they were turned off from buying a pistol because of how "lackadaisical" the striker sounds. One would think most folks would be more concerned about how the trigger feels (mine feel great -- I instantly fell for this pistol the first time I shot it, and liked it so much I quickly snapped up another one).
