Hey everyone, this is my first post on here. So if I did something wrong ; tell me me how to fix it or post it in the right place. Anyways, this is my first AK type rifle. It’s a Yugoslavian M70ab2 but I added a “ Pashtun “ touch. In tribal regions of Pakistan; the locals tend to decorate their wepons with tape, camera strap slings and more. So I did the same since I have some ancestry from there. So far it has been a fine rifle, I put about 300 rds in it so far.

I have exactly that setup, less the decorations . I keep it loaded with a 75 round drum F Silver Bears best .

I haven’t shot mine with a drum yet, I do plan on it as I have one as well. Who built your M70?
M70s originated with the Yugoslav State Arms organization, now known as Zastava. Guns imported just prior to the Clinton-era Assault Weapons Ban were 100% Yugo built, but recent imports have varying degrees of US made (and often inferior) parts and are assembled here. Some of the best "Century Arms" M70s have an unblued bolt and had many of the internal components made by a machine shop in Texas, other use Tapco cast internal parts.

Overall, they are good AKs. Your example has the heavy-duty trunion, grenade launching gas valve, and (probably) flip- up night sights. Do they still glow?

Sadly their long dead or glow so faint I can’t see it. I’ve heard you can buy replacements and use a very fine punch or needle to poke the old vitals out. Plan on doing it myself after reading more about it.

The original inserts were radium and once ATF found out, they required them to be removed prior to importation. The replacements are tritium. Ive seen a few with the original inserts still in place, but most just have them knocked out, or a dab of luminescent paint in their place.

I’d like to build one with a fat .223 barrel, and use Galil mags.

They are the last of the Ak parts sets for sale nowadays.

Getting a Yugo built one would be sweet.

Mine is what is called "pre ban" was before the RINO Bush the First ban on "ass -halt rifles " so it was made by those Yugo Craftsman in good old Europe :) They use 1.5mm thick recievers, heavy rivtets , they are tanks, but heavy . With the folding stock it makes a handy "allways gonna go bang " defense weapon thats for sure. 4" groups at 100 yards from the factory sights. I have a .308 Yugo with factory IR sight set up too. My "fighting" AKs are two matched Hungarian made FEGs with UTilmalk rail and Aim point M2 RMR lower third cowitnessed to irons. The Fegs are alot lighter than the M70 s !

My other ak is a long barrel wasr, styled as a RPK. The next ak I plan on getting is ether a Mak90 and converted into a spiker or a new import Zpap that’s coming out this summer.

The straight underfolder is really great. I've been keeping an eye out for one of these or an NPAP-DF or Hungarian or something similar, but they are harder to come by lately. I've even been fantasizing about an SBR-ed M92 underfolder, but that's not really in my budget right now.

The angled underfolder (like a Chinese or Romanian) makes me unhappy since it's a chin weld. Maybe it works better with a helmet or whatever but I just don't like it.

I picked one of these up a number of years ago that was built by someone for Century. It has the DC Industries 1.5mm receiver and the chromed bolt. Solid little rifle and seems to hit what you point it at. I don't shoot it much any more, but I don't recall it ever not going bang when I pulled the trigger. Also have one of the drums that I've never tried. I did get some of the 20 round mags so I could carry it in an old surplus M60(?) spare barrel bag with the mag in place. The bag has a couple of pockets that provide storage for an extra mag, bayonet, etc.
