Got a call from my LGS yesterday

Very nice. I don't think I've ever seen a 3" one.

I had one, a 4" though, like it years ago, an adjustable sight Security-Six actually, but my ex-wife kept it when we split up. I tried to buy it from her, but the girl knows good guns.

I'm a Smith and Wesson guy really, but I've recently picked up a few Rugers. A S/A 44 Special, and a couple of 4" Security-Six's in blue. They both predate the "Ruger Warning" on the side of the barrel and are really nice guns. I don't think they're as nice as a Smith and Wesson, finish wise, but they're more than adequate as a gun to stick in a holster and carry out in the woods. Of course, "back in the day" we didn't hesitate to do the same with a Smith and Wesson either. A Smith and Wesson is also a slightly lighter, more svelte gun. A Model 19 vs a Security-Six for example...A Model 29 vs a Redhawk.

I don't carry either of them these days. I'm much to lazy to lug that much weight around all day. That's where plastic automatics shine.

I've also got my eye on a Redhawk with a 4" barrel in 45 Colt/ACP. I keep telling myself I don't "need" it, but...well, you know how it is. I've got brass, bullets, dies and such for 45 acp, and no gun to shoot it in. I would normally tell you I think the Super Redhawk, is one of the ugliest guns ever made, but the standard Redhawk, especially with 4" barrel, actually looks pretty decent.

I'm another one who has never had any interest at all in the GP-100. Couldn't tell you why really. They seem to be good guns, but I don't think I've ever even picked one up in a gun store. Same thing with the Smith and Wesson 5/686 series.

Prices are really blowing up on these. That's not bad at all for such great condition.

I paid about as much for a stainless 6" with some scratches and carry wear a few months back, and I felt like that was a good deal.
