Went to to the local gun show today. I had a Python back in the 70's and like a dummy I sold it for something else I thought I needed. I had been looking for a long awhile so when I saw this beauty this am I went oh man " this was a want but not a need " but I broke down anyway. Now I have my bucket list snake gun back in my possession. 1979 vintage a very good year.

Nothing like a blued python! Fired it yet? A Python is on my bucket list as well. Still holding out in vain for new production line...

I do not believe there will ever be new "Pythons." But if there ever are new Pythons that live up to the name, and are at all comparable to the original guns, then they will cost about as much as used Python costs now. The excellent fit and finish of a python will never be available at moderate prices.

I have extreme doubts as well, but a boy can dream.

Can I ask roughly how much that set you back snake? Just trying to stay on top of the snake gun prices

Probably too much I guess without a box but I thought I have seen them for more $$ online and not too many around here for sale and I was specifically looking for a blued 4" .It is in pristine condition so having said that $2500 , I know :what: but what the heck.

First gun I ever bought myself back in '74. Some burgling orc stole it and I was lucky enough to replace it when they were still under $500.00.
Great find, glad you were able to pick it up.

All kidding aside, the Colt Python is one of the finest revolvers ever made and are worth any "reasonable" price, certainly worth the price you paid, imo. The Python was pricey then; is pricey now and will only become more "pricey" in the future.
Yes, but the one downside, they'll make you such a trigger snob. Can't abide a mushy trigger now.
