Not a Glock guy. Is there anything else that competes in the G29's sandbox?

The Witness Compact mentioned above is a very underrated carry gun. It's functionally the same as the regular Witness. The only real problem is tracking one down.
EAA sells a conversion kit directly. I've considered it often but I have no need. You could always buy one in a different caliber, then enjoy tracking down a conversion caliber upper in 10mm (the frames imported into the U.S. are all the same). Might be a little easier... I've never looked for a compact slide conversion.
On the OP's post, I'm a big fan of 10mm Witnesses. I own more than one. I've never shot one in the compact format, though. I'm also not a Glock fan (don't own one, don't plan to), but I've been shocked the few times I've shot a G29 at how tolerable the recoil was. If I were bound and determined to have a compact 10mm, even I would have to give serious consideration to the 29.

What kind of problems?
It had a 12 round magazine, but I could barely get 10 rounds in them. The follower would stick at the bottom of the magazines if loaded with more than 8 rounds, and even then it would not feed reliably. At best, it would function with 5 rounds in it. The gun itself functioned perfectly with 14 round Mec Gar magazines, so it was definately an issue with the factory compact magazines.
What caliber?

Had a glock 29. Loved it. Then found out glocks hate lead boolits. No longer loved it. Practice was getting expensive. Waiting for Springfield to compact their xdm in one.
