Sorry to plagiarize the thread title from you, Sleeping Dog, but this is actually pretty funny/sad. Yesterday, I was out and about in Newport Kentucky, which is across the river from Cincinnati, Oh. Started to enter a clothing/thrift store (Village Discount in Newport Shopping Center) when I saw a sign on the front door which more or less read: "Pursuant to Ohio (italics mine) Revised Code 2923, it is unlawful to enter these premises with a concealed firearm." Yep, a NO CCW! sign that's a good mile and a half out of its jurisdiction, one might say. :p This business is not part of some multi-state chain, nor did the sign appear from its placement to be the work of a prankster. The store apparently thought this tactic would somehow keep somebody, perhaps only a person with VERY limited reading/comprehension abilities, from entering with a firearm. I did go in and ask to talk to a manager about this, but apparently he/she "wasn't in." As in "wasn't in their right mind", perhaps? :D

This is priceless . . . and it shows the (lack of) intellectual capacity of those on the left.

The person who posted the sign probably wouldn't be able to decipher a butterfly ballot, either.

DMK, I'd suspect they're possibly in more of a gaseous state (fumes from wacky tobaccky?) than a solid one...Oh you meant state as in Ohio, North Carolina, or Texas..okay!:p Ironically, I'd only dropped by there to see if I could improve my CCW wardrobe on the cheap. Gonna go back there to pester the folks at some point, but I gotta be in the right mood to futz with yo-yos of this ilk. ;) Anybody else, feel free to share your thoughts on this story, or add a similar one of your own..

Whoever put the sign up probably lives across the river in OH. Thought the sign was a good idea, just forgot they work in a different state.

Waddayabet the manager's a blonde? :)

Regards.

Waddayabet the manager's a blonde?

"What's that ma'am, no conceal firearms? Well, that's fine I only have a Hand Gun it's different:neener:"

You should point out that due to VT/AZ/AK regulations that you are allowed to cary a firearm openly

:D

I've got to get down there tomorrow & get a picture of this (& then zoom out to show the location).

:D a classic.

Greg L - when you get that pix taken of this particular business,
please forward me a copy with your permission to use same in
the persuiant of its' removal.

As a proud charter member of the KC3 and KFFI here in Kentucky,
we are in constant search of this type of............well I said it.

With so many people from Cincinnati crossing the river to shop the KY liquor stores maybe they think Newport is part of Ohio? I take it KY doesn't have the "No Guns" posting law? Is an Ohio permit valid in KY? Maybe they just don't like armed Ohioans.

make sure to spread that pic around, casue that's just funny....

you'll also find a no concealed weapons sign at the el cheapo theaters out there by turfway park....

went there last weekend, didn't see the sign until i was leaving, but i did notice that the deputy that was in the place wasn't carrying openly??

is this normal in boone county???

and since you guys are in the area, check out the thread in my sig...

I don't know why everyone is snickering. It's well known that Cincinnati is the capital of Northern Kentucky. So it all makes perfect sense.

Mission accomplished :D .

It gets even funnier, there is a KY state flag flying over the store  .

I guess that since Cincinnatti claims the airport that is actually SOUTH of the Ohio River, they are trying to take over more of our state :D .

Being a Kentuckian (way way west of Newport), I think this is FUNNY!!!!

The sign itself :D

Ooops, sorry about the size. Anyone know how to fix it?

Anyway, the Newport Shopping Center sign with the store listed.

Open Carry anybody?

I work in Newport. So my question is does anybody want to stage an open carry. What's really hilarious is that if you walk out to the end of the parking lot there is a military surplus store that carries pistols.
I may just walk in there and ask the id10t just why they think an Ohio law is valid in Kentucky.

This is PRICELESS, and demands mass-media attention / embarassment for the owner / manager / whomever put up the sign.
Get the local town / city council and commerce boards in on it too - let them know a business in town apparently isn't aware of what the local laws are or that they are even part of a Kentucky town and not OHIO.

And the local RKBA orgs should stage a mass event / intrusion, with video coverage. Get the foaming liberal idiot that posted that sign on tape railing about 'get out of my store or I'm calling the cops'.
Even better, have them call the KY cops to enforce an OH law.

This kind of Ignorance / Deliberate Deceptiveness needs the full spotlight of attention on it.

Looking forward to reading more aobut it.

I looked up the Ohio Code that this sign is referring to (Ohio Code 2923) and don't even see how it applies to this store even if it was in Ohio. Looks to me as though they are using legal gun law verbage to impress the customers. Can someone explain?
