I found this on the Remington web sight and wow it sure is purdy to me! it's a pump action 22 that shoots shorts, longs, and long rifle all mixed together! so I like the weight of 5 3/4lbs and a 21in barrel. so guys who has one and how good is it? and does it shoot tight groups etc? thanks! :)

The one I grew up shooting as a kid was great-I'd be a bit leery of a new production one. But then, I pulled the trigger on a Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic, and it is a great gun. If there is a down side to the 572, it is takedown, but it can be kept running without major tear down, maybe once annually is a good idea.

I have one that I use for killing stuff around the house at night. Doesn’t get used much but always works and is plenty accurate for the job. Not as fast as a semi but it functions 100% with ammunition that would choke a semi and is faster than a lever action.

Ive owned a few over the years and like them a lot. I currently own one as well and it is my back yard in the city varmint gun with shorts. From the 21" barrel, a short is probably quieter than a 22LR suppressed.

My dad has one as his barn gun and it has shot dozens of bats, rats, and chucks all with shorts.

Mine shoots bulk ammo like crap but shoots CCI Minis and Standards lights out. I have a period correct Weaver K4 on it.

Do NOT buy one new. I got my last one at a Pawn Shop for $250. The routinely go for $300-350.

Get on Gunbroker if you want one because in this instance you will save a ton of money by getting an older one.

I bought one about 25 years ago... it's a fun little rifle. I didn't find mine all that accurate, even with a scope mounted, but some of that may have been the ammos I was using. I gave mine to my youngest nephew when he turned 16.

I've got a pre-1968 model, no serial number, and it's a hoot to shoot. Not the most accurate rifle by any means. But it will sidestep any coming bans, at least I hope it does.

thanks guys the look just stunned me over on Remington sight showing it in production but I do like the older guns as well so this gives me a reason to go gun shopping lol! :)

I bought a new 572 about 6 years ago, shot hundreds of nutria with it. it wasn't as accurate as my Browning SA22 but good enough rarely will jam. Mine was very worn. I bought another new 572 3 years ago. it had intermittent light firing pin strikes from day one new out of the box!!I sent it to 2 Rem service centers no good did not repair brand new rifle. I got aggravated and sent it to Rem in Ilion, NY. they repaired it. took 4 months. in the interim I purchased a Browning SA 22 on the advice of RC Model, this rifle is very accurate and dependable. They are expensive but worth every penny. the new Rem 572 not so much.

I recommend an older 572, or a Browning SA22.
