Saw this a while back, was thinking of picking one up for its short stroke for decapping, etc and to have another single stage on the bench.

Anyone have experience with them?
Do they go on sale, and if they do, what price do they typically go on sale for?

Lyman has three "Brass Smith" presses , Ideal Press , Victory Press and All-American Turret .
If you are referring to the Ideal Press , I don't have one but they look well made , Amazon has them $83.00.
Lee's basic "C" is $49.97 and the Lee Hand Press is $45.00 .
I'm not sure how short the stroke is .
I picked up a Lee Hand Press for doing decapping and odd jobs and found it so handy I bought a second...
With them I can do a lot of case prep inside my house . Actually I now load all my handgun and 30-30 ammo with them...neat tool to get you away from the bench .

I had a Lyman "Ideal" press and sold it almost immediately, lack of leverage, short stroke. It would have been fine for straight wall pistol cartridges but not enough muscle to effectively resize larger rifle brass. That said, it was of good quality and well made

After this I got one of the "All-AmericanTurret" and I am very happy with it. Plenty of leverage to resize MG fired 7.62 Nato brass. Very well made, beefy linkage, and turret has nice positive stops. That said, the supplied priming system can only be described as GARBAGE and tends to miss the spent priming cup in de-priming operations. I use the Lyman RAM-Prime die so this isn't too much of a minus for me.

I have the Ideal Press (C press) that I've used to deprime thousands of cases and pulled bullets on a few never sized any cases on it so don't know about that. Its a much better press than the Lee Reloader Press it replaced. When I bought it I planned on only using it for depriming. I like a open C press for that.Got mine for $75 I see them for less now.I'm pleased with mine.
