Shooting my .458Socom from a Lead Sled and when I went to put it away the stock wouldn't collapse. Huh?
Got it home and determined that I had severely bent the stock adjustment bolt. This is the bolt/stud that holds the adjustable AR stock in each of the detent positions.
Went on the Leapers web site, but couldn't find a way to order the internal parts for their S1 stock. They did have an email for customer service. (yeah right) So I sent them an email on Friday night and on Monday morning there was a reply offering to send the replacement part FOR FREE. I told them it was entirely my fault and I would pay for the part (and an extra one JIC). But they insisted. So a couple of days later I got two extra bolts, nuts and drift pins.
They also suggested that I not extend the stock when shooting from a non-movable rest, like the Lead Sled. Also, that if I needed to "mortar" my gun, that is bang it on the stock to get the bolt loose if it was stuck, I should also collapse the stock. Wow, that was a technique I hadn't thought about. So I learned something.
LONG AND SHORT. I'm happy that I chose LEAPERS/UTG for my build. USA made and great customer service. The CSR actually knew about handling ARs and how they worked. Plus they were willing to cover for my mistake.
