For the price, how can you not buy one?
Think about it. A Single Six for a fraction of the price.
Plinking at tin cans and plastic bottles full of colored water.

Mmmmm... So much rim-fire fun to be enjoyed.

I regret that I was born a year or two too late. When the handgun bug bit me in the early 1970s, I handled new 3 screw Blackhawks in a sporting goods store display case, but they were a little too expensive for me then. Also, I was vehicle-challenged and shot in a local basement range with .22 target pistols. By 1974 or 75 when I was anxious to buy a Super, all of the 3 screw Blackhawks and Supers had been snapped up by savvy shooters. I was perfectly happy with the New model Super, and still am, but I wish that I had bought something like a medium frame 3 screw in .357 magnum with a 4 5/8" barrel, when I still could have.

Somewhat like you I didn't get into handguns until sometime in the mid to late '70s. For my first "big bore" I went with the Ruger Super Blackhawk but by then all I could find were the ones with the new lockwork. Eventually I sold it and didn't have another until a few years back when I came across an old friend at a gun show who had two, 3 screw, like new in the box, Super Blackhawks! Probably made sometime in the early '60s I remember it also had the gun's serial number penciled in on the box. My friend was keeping the lower serial number gun and was selling the other one. I got it for an unbelievable price and put it away in my gun safe. When I did take it out it was to admire how well built and finished it was when it was made so many years ago.

Not long after that I was unfortunately in need of some quick cash and so I put it up for consignment sale at a local gun shop. Even with the added expense of the gun shop's fee, I made out very nicely with that Super Blackhawk.

By the way, that old friend of mine also gave me a great deal on this 3 screw Blackhawk and this one I'm hanging onto for a very long time!
