Since Washington state is hell-bent on being as anti-gun as California and other communist states by banning high capacity magazines and requiring background checks on ammunition purchases, I have a question.

Now, this is hypothetical since no actual ban is in place and I haven't seen the wording of the law...

I live in Washington, on the border of Idaho. My family lives in Idaho 15 miles away.

I have bought items online and used my parent's address since I am rarely home and I don't want expensive items left on my doorstep.

So, if I go online and order a bunch of ammo or magazines and have it shipped to my parent's Idaho address, then go pick it up, what difference does that make to the retailer?

I know online retailers won't ship normal capacity magazines to states that have outlawed them, but if I use an Idaho address, then the burden is on me for violating my state's laws.

Just wondering if I should use some of my limited funds to stockpile magazines now, or concentrate on other more needed supplies such as powder, brass, bullets, etc. since even after a ban, I can still order magazines and ammo online and just have it shipped to Idaho.

I've also floated the idea of changing my legal address to my parent's house and living in it during the winter months while they are in Arizona, but the extra cost to keep it heated is a couple of hundred dollars more a month than my little Washington house.

And I also don't see the gun stores in Idaho asking to see ID before selling ammunition to make sure I'm not a Washington resident. Now, WalMart used to do that to check your age, but not the gun shop down the street.

The idaho retailers don't care.
The online retailers don't care if your house is in a free state and you are literally on the boarder of a gun grabber state. They only look at the state as a whole.
Might as well buy what you want, the government and criminals aren't going to follow any gun laws.

I believe that legally changing your address to another state also requires changing your driver's license and vehicle registration within 30 days, in most states. If you have a Washington concealed pistol permit, that becomes an issue because it is tied to your WA driver's license.

All of this makes this thread either a general discussion, or impossible to answer for legal purposes. Unless there is a specific statute, provision, or legal principle we can examine to find the answer, it doesn't belong in Legal. OP, I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your situation.
