Didn't check out my "new" Jetfire .25 very well..

Those Baby Brownings are the most overrated .25's ever. Awful sights, heel mag release, terrible safety.
I have gladly sold every Fn or Colt .25 I have ever had.

Every several-many years, I'll find myself in possession of 3 or so and then..... Liked frikken baby rabbits, they're suddenly EVERYWHERE and I find myself muttering and uttering over the various nuanced differences.

THEN, like an awakening from a bad dream, I will quite suddenly realize that once again!..... I am collecting them - and I loathe them!

And yet, the Beretta remains and likely ever will.

Todd.

I agree with you about head shots only and knife/fists/run if the gun doesn't stop the threat. I'll also agree that if you're not carrying a spare mag, the heel mag release is more reliable because it's a better way to secure a magazine, BUT if given the option I'm taking the Beretta because if there's a need or an opportunity to reload in the event there are multiple attackers (can't predict how certain people on certain "substances" will react) the Beretta is going to be faster under stress to reload.

Not too mention, the Beretta holds 2 more rounds.
If given the option I want at least a keltec p32 or other small .32. I do not carry a .25 these days since the small .32's are about the same size. It is not 1950 any more and we have better choices.

the phoenix

The Phoenix is the 25 version of the hp22. I have one in the two barrel range master kit as does my dad. They run 125-150 and are all metal. They have the most redundant, asinine safety system ever created. Both a frame mounted and a slide mounted safety. Plus you can't work the slide with the frame safety off. Unloading the gun is best left to a mag dump. Good guns if you remove half of that though.

i would like to hear more about the phoenix (and jimenez) 25acp pistol.

What he said, but while they're all metal, the metal is Zamak and the gun weighs almost a pound and a half as a result. What's nice about them tho is they're the only .25 pistol ever made with a windage adjustable rear sight and the sights on them are very decent.

I had a Jetfire .25 ACP back in the early 1990's. I carried it off duty for a few weeks, then when I realized it was waaaay too puny for that so I got a M-19 .357 2.5"..then I went to a S&W 4013.

Looking back through my memory banks I don't believe The Jetfire I owned had a safety, I recall it having just the barrel tip-up lever and magazine release button.

Sadly, the little Beretta was stolen by a former housekeeper many years ago. :fire:

Stay safe.

I do not know about it being the best. Hard to beat the tiny browning FN made .25.
Almost any all steel .25 ACP is better than an aluminum or zamak framed one. The extra weight is hardly a deficit in such a small gun. My personal choice is the Astra cub, all steel and has a hammer, which I really feel better about than a striker.

The zamak Phoenix is actually twice as heavy as the beretta and narrower as well. It has plenty of weight and steel. Canadian zamak is apparently better than some others if that's what they use Eh. And that is coming from someone who has 2 broken/ shot to pieces zamak guns. Ive posted pictures of them here before. As the other poster said it also has an adjustable rear sight.

Ive put a lot of rounds through my Phoenix and a few k through a 22 lr beretta (my 25 berettas have very little use though). I collected only berettas for a few years (not just tip ups). The Phoenix was a gift and I own only one. So obviously I prefer the berettas. As far as a usable range gun I'd put the two pretty close actually. The Phoenix is a surprisingly good gun, only hurt by lackluster accuracy for a longer barrel and that crazy safety setup (can't possibly overstate it) which can be altered with a google search. If you like 25 it's a decent gun for very little. Sans frame safety

Head shots? I've mentioned a case we had here before where a guy was shot point blank in the forehead with a .25. The bullet pierced the skin and followed the contour of his skull under the skin. It then exited out the back of his scalp.

We also had a stupid case where an attendant in a supermarket parking lot told a guy to move his car, which for some reason angered him. The driver jumped out and shot the rather large attendant 7 times with his .25, hitting him with all shots. This angered the attendant to the point where he beat the living crap out of the shooter.

The attendant was later able to testify in court about the incident, looking no worse for wear. I sold my Colt Jr. and Beretta Jetfire .22 short not long after that.

Phoenix is in California, not Canada.

Phoenix is in California, not Canada.

Mine say phoenix arms. Ontario CA

I kind of assumed ontario Canada. When I read your comment I googled it and the first thing I found was a "the truth about guns" review also stating Canada so I'm not the only dummy.....Lol. But you are correct it's ontario california if one locates the full address. My bad

Carry on

Maybe I got two flukes but watch carrying them that way. Both of mine with a safety will go off in DA or SA with the safety on. It adds a bit of weight to the trigger but both will go off 100 percent of the time. I thought my older one was just worn but sure enough I drug out my newer 21A and it does the same thing albeit slightly harder. They are surprisingly accurate and ammo tolerant IME

you're not talking about the same gun the OP and I are.

Oddly enough...I am REALLY considering the "target" or longer barrel variant in both 22 & 25.

If they happened to turn up reliable, they'd make excellent stash/shtf/small game gatherers. Nobody makes a "longer" barrel 25 Automatic..Apparently Pheonix does.

Astra made ones with 4" barrels that stuck out, looked kind of cool, they called them "Camper" models and I've only seen photos of them. As to high quality zamak, any steel is many times better than the very finest quality zamak crapmetal.

Phoenix does not offer a 5 inch barrel in the .25, .22 only. I wish they would tho, along with a .32 ACP.

Damm, that is a bummer...we NEED a long barrel 32/25 caliber handgun
I would email Ruger and ask them for a Mark IV in .32 ACP with a 7 inch barrel, but last time I asked them about making a .32 pistol it was for the LCP II and they gave me a .22 instead.

Guess they thought it was a typo.
