What has changed in your gun safe this past year?

A year ago I had a small pile of revolvers and semi autos in 22, 9mm, 357 and 45acp plus a couple of 22 rifles. As of this moment I have pared down to 4 handguns - two 22s, a 357 and a 1911 in 45acp - and four rifles. 9mm's have left the building. It appears that I'm only keeping guns I like to shoot.
2020 looks to be a year for stockpiling ammo, finally getting a suppressor and figuring out how to shoot a rifle.

I spent last year on guns and ammo like a government does when it is someone elses money to spend, but it was my own and now for at least the first half of the year I need to stop buying and starting spending down before I start again. I don't know what I may get this year the election coming is on my mind but for now no more ammo and guns for the next few months.

What changed in my safe last year?, I'd have to make a list I bought so much I can't even remember off my memory.

What has changed....Well, my state (Oklahoma) became a Constitutional Carry state. So that’s a major plus. And I’m kinda like @lionking. I’m not even sure all the guns I bought. I came across so many deals, I didn’t have a choice. Off the top of my head: 3 AR’s, CZ 455, M70 EW, Nice sporter 1903, Very nice sporter Krag, Interarms Mark X mannlicher, Marlin 30-30 and 35 Remington (JM), 3 Springfield Trapdoors, custom mannlicher in 7mm, custom mannlicher in 30-06, a perfect Chaffee-Reece, and 3 or 4 original Remington Rolling Blocks. I’m sure I left out a few.

Ok...Maybe I need to see someone. I think I have a problem. o_O

I think you should talk to your local gunsmith. I heard they can really help with problems like this.......

Traded away a S&W E Series 1911 and some valuables that were unlikely to make me money in the future.

Resulted in me bringing home:
Sig P220 SAO stainless model in 10mm
Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail in 45 acp
Dan Wesson PM-38 in 38 Super of course
Sig Sauer P938 Legion
CZ Shadow 2 in 9mm of course.

Also started loading 357 magnum
Started loading 38 Super
Started loading 9mm

More than doubled my loading output this year. Not enough to keep up with my shooting. But it’s an improvement.

There’s 4 or 5 guns I’d like to pick up in 2020 but there’s only any urgency in two of those, and I want to start loading S&W 460 magnum.

My state is rapidly turning anti-gun. I have plenty of magazines and live on the border of Idaho so no reason to panic and buy more magazines and ammo in the face of proposed restrictions on both. But I will likely hold my nose and buy a Hellcat and an AR10 upper. Hoping to mainly focus on increasing my skill by doing more training on drawing from concealment and getting shots on target faster. 2020 will be a year of focusing on self-discipline for me. Losing weight, getting in shape, and increasing skill.

I think this year I will add a 10mm to my safe and buy the RRA complete upper in 300 blackout. I can't decide which 10mm to buy though I'm down to two choices either the Springfield Armory TRP in long slide or the Dan Wesson Kodiak also a long slide. I love Springfield firearms and own a couple of their 1911's. I just have to find out if they sell or can order a Dan Wesson Kodiak for me at the Post Exchange. I save a ton of money at the PX because I don't have to pay taxes. So I'll find out soon.

I heard that the DOD decided to let us old vets shop there now. The last Commissary I was in was in Japan last year on Yokota AB. No firearms, of course. How are prices on base? Nearest base to me is Fairchild, about 70 miles away. Not sure if the gas is worth any savings in taxes.

Living in San Antonio I have several bases to shop but only one sells firearms, a second one sells limited ammo and the 3rd one Ft. Sam Houston does not sell any. At Randolph Air Force Base the guys at the counter said that they would match sale prices from other vendors and they normally have sales on display of about 10-20 % off. I bought my 686+ with 3"barrel for $589 plus a rebate from smith and Wesson at that time. So their prices are great. I would call them before you make the drive out there or order on line at https://www.shopmyexchange.com
I bought the following two handguns on base at a bunch of saving. Check what they have on line and pick it up there.

Last year (weird to say) I bought:
Marlin 1894 .38/.357
Glock 26 Gen 3
Glock 34 Gen 3
Smith & Wesson 63

This year I want:
Smith & Wesson TRR8 or an M&P R8. Undecided.
I am also debating on another one or two cowboy revolvers.

I’ve had this odd desire to have one of those as well.

However, I’m thinking this might be a herd-thinning year. Daughter’s college tuition is a real thing now.

Edit: to answer the question.... I added a few nice guns to the safe. Wilson Glock 19, Wilson Beretta Brig Tac, Colt Custom M45A1 CQBP, and an Alchemy Prime Elite.

In 2019 I took advantage of the number of (pre-owned) CRF Mauser-action rifles and carbines that came on the US market manufactured by Zastava in brand names such as Zastava, Interarms Mark X, and Whitworth. One caliber in particular uncommon to the US, 7X64mm Brenneke, really caught my attention. I expect to hunt more often and purchase less often in 2020.

Don’t let the secret out!

What he really means folks is those guns are beyond junk. He buys them for parts to rebuild real Mausers, and uses the stocks as firewood. Nothing to see here folks. Keep moving.

I think I only bought two guns. On the hunting side, I got a new lease, 3 ladder stands, and a pop up blind.
I also stocked up on supplies for some of my unloved cartridges.

I tripled my AR collection by building 2 during the summer, and in the process made some small modifications to my formerly-completely-stock M&P Sport. I also did the High Tower bull pup conversion to my hi point carbine. So I'm much more tacticool going into 2020.

Oh, and I also joined a range after my number came up on the 3 year wait list. I used to only be able to shoot .22's and handguns at my house, but I'm happy to able to spend some time with rifles again after a nearly 12 year pause. I may even try to go to some of the events they have at the range this year.

I added a couple 9x19s and 357 SIGs, plus a 22LR pistol. That's all I can remember. A 6.5 Grendel should have been added. Maybe soon. :)

I added a few to the safe; 20 and 16 gauge BPS shotguns, an older model 64 and 66 S&W revolvers, a Ruger Wrangler and a Win M-70 7mm Rem Mag in 2019.

I also bought a lot of loaded ammo, powder, bullets, cases and primers.

Stay safe.

I don't know what's going on, but the universe appears to be attempting to seduce me into the world of revolvers.

In 2019, I picked up a 6" stainless Security 6 at a fair price, and a 6" Monson Dan Wesson 715 .22lr for $250 OTD. I didn't even know that was a thing. And now, I'm seeing Bodyguard .38's (weird gun, right?) and Ruger LCR's fairly cheap. I don't like the cylinder release on the Bodyguard, so that's currently my out on those.

But LCR's? Hmm... I'm kind of tempted, but this year I need to save money.

Except my Kahr MK9 is a bit of a hefty boy, so maybe actually a pocket .380 is in order. Except, I probably need to save money.

The local pawn shop also has weird random pistols priced aggressively, so I might bite on something interesting and random if it's cheap enough. In 2019 I picked up a poorly rattlecanned M&P 9mm for $200 and change, passed on a Steyr M40 at the same price (awful pointy grip), and a relative picked up a like-new Ruger P95 there also for about $200.

And I still don't have an AR15 or even any lowers. Except I think AK's might be cooler, in which case I still don't have an underfolder.

It's going to be a tough year for gun purchases. Probably.
