Good info thanks
Not sure what Taurus recommends but I shoot 5 +P rounds through my 85UL every month when I rotate my carry ammo. Other than that I stick to 158 SWCs loaded to normal specs.
Love the gripsThis 85 belongs to my mother-in-law, but I borrow it pretty frequently during concealed carry courses. I had to do major reconstructive surgery to make it safe for use several years ago, including transplanting and timing a new cylinder, but the effort paid off and it runs like a top.

My SS Taurus 85 from the early 90's was +p rated for that era.
I mostly shoot standard 38 spl through it and carry +p in it that I sometimes shoot, it has been a good gun for all these years and has never had a malfunction.
