I thought they said it was “The faster barrel twist of the projectile” that ensured the accuracy...:)

I am sure there are lots of over 20” fast twist .223’s converted to .22 LR that shoot lights out with them but I have never tried them in one.

I guess the boxes of it that I have were given to me so I don’t feel like a sucker...
I suspect their poorly worded line about faster bullet twist is referring to the rifling twist in the barrel rather than the bullet itself. Regardless I've seen quite a few recommendations for this ammo when using the 22lr conversion kits.

You need at least a 10 twist to stabilize the 60gr. I prefer the 8 or 9 twist made by Shaw as a Remington or 10/22 replacement barrel. They shoot lights out. But I carry a subsonic 22 all the time at the farm. This is my 510 with a 16 inch barrel.

It depends. My neighbor brought some Aguila 60 gr along when we shot the other day and shot a .3" five shot group at 50 yd with it using my 1712. I'm not sure what the 1712 twist rate is but I suspect it's at least 1 in 14" or slower.

Good to know it’s not just me with the smell there. It’s decent stuff and for the price shot well enough to put the Winchester into backup storage.

Got it, so it's about the volume of the barrel relative to length. Thanks for the insight.

Todd.
yah, the physical law says that pressure (hence velocity) decreases in direct proportion to volume increase. so, at some barrel length point, powder gas velocity will decrease to below the speed of sound and become quiet.

p.s. i'm talking about the powder gas velocity as it exits the muzzle of the barrel.
