Have no experience with .40 and I did not have the patience to watch the clip. I have found that 9mm military loaded fmj in yellow pine boards to out penetrate .45 ball and midrange soft point .44 mag. Penetration in wood is dependent on the projectiles shape, ability resist deformation, tumbling, and velocity/momentum. I wonder, but do not have proof if the approximate 1 in 10 twist for the european 9x19 barrels is meant to enhance penetration. American 9mm's often have a slower twist.
S&W standard 9mm barrel twist rate was 1-18.75 or 1-16, (depending on who you talk to.)Jan 24, 2013
A faster one in ten twist rate is what one would normally see in a rifle.
Glock OEM is
One in 9.84 in
For all 9mm, 10mm, . 357, and . 40 caliber pistol lines, the twist rate is - One in 9.84 in.
But after market barrels can be 1 in 16.

A guy in camo, shooting tree stumps, trying to say something that we can't hear, interspersed with battle scenes, a pic of a bent wire rod, with a loud background noise of Godzilla passing gas. I've been there before. Didn't watch the ending.

Where did the video diverge from 1950's propaganda to scientifically-controlled ballistic development? This seems to be less a controlled ballistic test than political propaganda. Garbage science.

I am sure Saiga 308 in new to shooting sports and does have beautiful property to shoot on, but I'm darned if I can see what it is that he is trying to show us. His vids seem more amusement value than anything else.

i didnt think the 40 cal would go through the stump like that ok its a thin spot but its as hard as my head

As I posted previously, if you are trying to demonstrate anything on a regular basis, you really need a consistent reference standard to compare.

Does your ammunition (Do you even use the same ammunition for test consistency?) going through a thin part of a random stump provide any repeatable data THR members could use? Due to wood density difference from hardwood to softwood and age/condition of stump, penetration depth could wildly vary. And my head may not be as hard as yours.

Like my comments for accuracy testing at set distances (Say 15/25 feet), if you are going to test penetration, you need a pre-determined medium to measure penetration depth (Like water, gel, denim/gel, etc.).

As to quality of audio and distracting traffic noise, I could not make up most of what you said (Keep in mind, THR members may be veterans with attenuated hearing/hearing damage or older in age with hearing loss and really could benefit from clear audio ;)). If you were needing a video on how to cook a certain dish and the video audio quality was like yours, would you continue watching the video or stop and watch something else? Most would watch something else as information being conveyed would not reach the viewer (And I am sure you want the viewers to hear what you have to say).

And playing a rather long intro video of movie scenes, I don't think really helps ... not to mention copyright issues (You did get usage permission, right?) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?pages/code-of-conduct/

"5. You agree to respect the copyright of others. If you don't own the rights to something, do not post it unless you have received prior written permission from the owner. Absent that permission, please just link to it and provide a brief summary of the contents."
Your threads are what I would consider "drive-by" to drive traffic to your Youtube videos without offering much beneficial content to THR members. Here's a listing of your threads often with just a linked video and no significant discussion of content - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?search/42528873/

"6. Drive-by posting is not allowed. A drive-by is: (1) Starting off a discussion (thread) with the posting of a link, or other copied content, without any meaningful commentary describing what the link or copied content is about or what there is to discuss; or (2) posts with no meaningful or contributory content."

tough thin rod
Without "meaningful commentary", members have no idea what "tough thin rod" means and why you posted that picture. I still don't know how the "thin rod" correlates to your OP.

If you start gun review threads that are informative with measurable, repeatable test data using consistent test criteria, I would gladly read them and even watch your videos.

Consider these member and moderator comments for your future threads:

I have no clue what this video was designed to show. "Wow and Wow! Pretty unimpressive AFAIC."

Wind noise and 2 calibers hitting a stump. WOW! (not).
This video must have been shot beside an interstate highway. Terrible sound quality.

Though I skipped through most of it, I'm still wondering WTH I just watched:barf:

Waste of ammo, film or electrons, not to mention time.
