Ridiculous good bye video for the KelTec P11

Thanks for posting that. Two P11s in the family. Yes, they are good guns. I suppose the PF9 replaced them.

Never shot one. I guess I'll never know what I might have been missing.. Funny Vid though!
RIP P11

The P11 was in some ways the ideal awful little pistol. Horrible trigger, rough edges, cheaply built... but it sold at an honest price (close to $200) and did what it was designed to do really well in my experience. 12+1 in a package not much bigger than many 5-6-shot guns, 15rd mags available if you don’t mind them sticking out.

It definitely suffered from the “pushing the limit so far it was miserable to shoot” problem. I had a .22lr conversion for mine and used it quite a bit for plinking.

Zero regrets on owning it. Don’t know of anything that really competes with it

Monty Python meets Troma Entertainment.

Closest I came to a P11 is the copy, a SCCY CPX-2. It's very basic at a basic price.

Great pocket nine.

I carried a P-11 for 11 years with confidence. I did have to add the Kel-Tec trigger shoe accessory to help with that atrocious heavy trigger.

My guess is that SCCY owns the market share between the two. It’s just not worth the investment for Kel-Tec to keep the sku’s anymore.

The trigger shoe helps 100%.

I retired the P-11 in 2006 when I finally found a Rohrbaugh.

I had one. It worked just fine. The trigger was so stiff that I traded it towards something else.

I had one and carried it for several years. I decided I wanted something nicer & found something else to fill its niche. Then a friend told me he was interested in carrying. I took him out & let him shoot my guns to see what he might like. He stunk it up with everything he shot. I let him shoot the P-11 & he tore the center out of the target. He offered to buy it. I wound up giving it to him.

The only thing I did was sand out the magwell so magazines would drop free & replace the mag catch with a metal one I bought from a guy at KTOG. It had a horrible trigger that was like dragging an eight pound weight down a gravel road. It was also pretty accurate once you got used to the trigger. The only malfunction I ever had was a failure to eject with aluminum cased ammunition. I didn't shoot aluminum cased ammunition in it after that. It was however a really small 9mm that held 10 rounds in a pistol that weighed 12 ounces unloaded IIRC. Kind of neat in its own way.

Traded mine off many years ago. Was my first bought ccw gun but in time realized there were much better options out there. Just no way I want a trigger that horrible. Didn’t know about the trigger shoe. Hard to believe KT couldn’t make trigger better. With a decent trigger that was a great ccw option.

Kel Tec's marketing leaves a bit to be desired. First the ad with the guy drinking his own urine, now farting Vikings.

I assume they're replacing the P-11 with something new, maybe to compete with the Sig 365 and Hellcat.

I remembered when it first came out in .40 cal and an acquaintance carried one loaded with MagSafe ammo (I think it was). I found it recoiled too much for me with wwb but he loved the size to power ratio. meanwhile I stayed with the Glock 36 for a little longer.

People posting about the trigger shoe reminded me. I did heat the plastic trigger & take a little bit of the radius out of it (relieved it just a touch) to make it more comfortable. Trying to remember. I think I soaked it in boiling or very warm water for just a few minutes first.

I bought mine new for less than $200 out the door. This was in about 1996. Very low 5 digit #. Extractor broke in front of pivot pin after about 600 rds. KT sent me a complete new redesigned top end - barrel, slide, springs. No probs for a few years. Started getting premature lock back (with Gold Dot +P). KT upgraded the gun to new standards for free! By the way BOTH trips to the factory were free including shipping. Even though it's still not pleasant to shoot it is 100% reliable and reasonably accurate with anything.
I use it as my airline travel gun. It's reliable and very size efficient (empty 14oz with 11 rd capacity). I wouldn't get TOO upset if it were stolen by a carousel pirate.

I had one for a long time. Lost it while hunting and never found it. Even after retracing steps with a metal detector. Oh well. I liked the gun, but it’s basic protection. I thought it to be a good choice for a budget banger, but newer designs are smaller and better. I always wanted the 40sw version of the p11, but have never seen one, but I do know that they exist.

I have thought of getting a S&W sigma for the cheap for an airline gun for the same reasons you stated. Looking for a good deal on one.
