I usually tease people for what I just did. I was visiting Lexington today so I stopped by Buds. Found this P11 for $189. Looked to be a goods deal so I bought it. I should be able to pick it up back home later this week.

Any quirks I should know about?

The biggest "quirk" to over come with the P-11 is the awful DA trigger IMO.

The p-11 is a great pistol. The trigger everyone complains about is fine for what the gun is intended to do. It's not going to hit crap at 25 yards but at 10 feet while being robbed and your adrenaline is pumping you will never notice the trigger pull. People keep trying to make these pocket pistol something they're not. They are not target gun they are save your life in a close situation guns.

The Keltec P-11,..as stated,..is not a range gun, nor is it intended for extreme accuracy at distance. Not its nich. Up close and personal,...10 yards or less,..with a man sized target,.... aiming center mass. Yup.

I that instance,..I happen to LIKE that god awful truigger pull.

I like my p11 (not love), but it has a little problem feeding flat nosed ammo (some American Eagle is the only I've tried). In a box of 50, only one FTF, but the slide would seem to hesitate before racking forward. Could probably solve this with a dremel on the feed ramp.

+1 to that.

Had one, never missed a beat in 500rds. Not sure why it has sights, as it dont print where you aim:D

1) Really long trigger pull that snaps when it lets go.

2) If you dry fire it the firing pin can become jammed. Also if the screw that keeps the firing pin in place is tightened too tight it will jam the firing pin.

3) If you pocket carry it enough lint can build up between the hammer and trigger bar keeping the trigger from resetting.

4) Rear sight is plastic and can come loose.

That being said it's my primary carry gun. Can't argue with a gun that is small, reliable and holds 11 rounds of 9mm.

I've had one since they first came out. I also have the 40 S&W conversion.

Decent reliable gun.
Kicks pretty good, especially the 40 S&W.

I hardly ever use it anymore because I've bought a lot of other small semi autos that have pretty much replaced it.

One thing I do not agree with, that comes up in threads about small guns, is the P-11 or any other small gun is a "under 10 yard gun".
The way I look at it is the guy shooting at me is probably as good (or bad) as me and I guarantee, if need be, I can empty the magazine into you from way further back than 10 yards with these small guns.
For instance,
.380 Micro Desert Eagle. 52 yards. Standing. Two hands.

A shooter may not be able to hit anything beyond 10 yards, but they probably can't hit anything less than ten yards either. That's not a limitation of the gun, it's a limitation of the shooter.

Could you expand on that a bit? I'm not doubting you -- just that I've never heard it before and would like to know more. I have a PF9. Do I have anything to worry about?

Do all the criminals where you live have those big white dots on their chests? :D

(Just kidding -- nice shooting! Hitting anywhere on the silhouette at 52 yards with a pocket pistol is pretty impressive in my book.)

For what it is made for, it is great! That trigger pull is hevey but I don't notice it most of the time. Not a range gun! But great for EDC.! At the price, it's even a better deal!

Threads like this make me want to shoot the subject gun (if I own one). I hadn't shot the P-11 in, I guess, maybe three years. So I shot it today.

The trigger pull is even longer than I remember it but could be gotten use to again quickly I believe.
I wasn't getting the accuracy at 10 yards that I expected. Fairly small COM while shooting a little fast but poor grouping for shooting at that close a distance.

After a hand full of magazines I saw the problem. The rear sight was moving.
I'll call Kel Tec tomorrow and get them to send a couple. As I recall they had a assortment of front and rear sights in a package.

Anyhow the shooting today makes me want to carry it again some.

I'm not even sure why I put that dot there. Maybe I feel like I'm doing better when the shots are in the dot, even though I miss the silhouette a few times..:D

The Kel-Tec P11 is a very good gun, at least in my experience. I've had one for about five years and have gone through a couple of thousand rounds. Mine had some teething problems at first, but Kel-Tec made everything right. The P11 is surprisingly accurate. I enjoy "plinking" at the range from the bench at 25 yards -- hardly a self-defense scenario but a lot of fun. Inside 15 yards it's at least as accurate as a lot of the more expensive subcompacts out there. I have full confidence in my P11. The small size and light weight make extended shooting sessions a little rough on the hand, but I've found that wearing a snug fitting batting glove takes the curse off. Simple, rugged design. A true workhorse that's easy to carry. The trigger is very rough at first but really smooths out after 500 or so rounds. There's a great Kel-Tec forum with many handy tips and mods. Hard to go wrong.

I love mine. It's the smallest 11 round 9mm I've ever found. Trigger feels like something that belongs on a child's toy from Taiwan in the 1970's. But for a long time, mine lived in a hiding place at my front door.

I've had my P11 since about '97. Yeah the trigger pull is long. If you do the trigger stop mod you can eliminate the overtravel and the trigger shoe helps with the feel of the trigger itself.

if your handy, there is a paper clip trigger mod.....it works great for my p11 and p40....if you don't like it, it takes five minutes to change back.....gary

I like mine, I think the trigger shoe you can get off of Kel Tec's website is a big improvement and only $10
