I ask this question out of pure inquisitiveness: What justifies the high cost of these brands?

What causes high production costs in general? Low demand, more labor costs, more material costs, marketing costs, other operational costs and profit margin.

Car to cake, same reasons. If everyone in the world wanted to use a Formula one racecar as a commuter, they would be made by the tens of millions a year and cost less than a Ford focus. One or a few of anything is going to be expensive.

Exclusivity, and bragging rights. Every Audi I have seen falls under the junk label, as has every Land Rover, the Ford 6.0 Diesel trucks, most Escalades, and more. Each of these cost over 50K, and people love them, defend them, and brag about them. Just like rifles, jewelry, clothes. Carver stereo did a demo on this years ago, the basic idea that people like paying more, because they want to pay more, because they simply like spending money.

Now Blaser has a true, smooth, natural straight pull bolt, and in an area where you can't legally get an auto, its a pretty good alternative. Straight pulls that are simply modified bolt with a cam sleeve are not as easy to work. They also offer some big calibers, and easy to change barrels, and good materials. FWIW, I am not a fan of them, I don't like the look, and an action that will blow straight back into you face with an overloaded round is pretty scary.

Korth does seem to be nothing more than an overly well made product, catering to an audience than would rather own a tool than another high end watch, and charge appropriately for their quality. They do have an excellent reputation. Forgotten Weapons did an episode on a Korth autopistol thats worth watching.
