Need to Simplify My Life!

This morning I was tidying (cant say clean) up my reloading room.
The ammo reload boxes (empty) have seemed to be procreating and multiplying like crazy.
I have every caliber, color, make known to man! I usually put the data on blue painter tape on the box.

Then I go to reload something and have to rummage around for one. No space to keep them all lined up in a row, so they go in a big Rubbermaid box. Then of course there is boxes of bullets, powders etc etc! Need a two car garage and no cars!

Thinking of disposing/selling them all and just go with the Zip Lock bag method!:what:

If they're paper, they're a fire hazard. I would never keep that kind of kindling stored in my dwelling.

After months of lockdown if there not all full, you may never need them and can use the space.

You mean get rid of them?? Ahhhh.!! Reloaders never dispose of anything. What really gets my OCD or Anal factor is the different colors and slightly different sizes even for the same caliber. Over the years have picked up boxes and pawn shops, junk sales even bought some, the lack of uniformity is to much to take!:) We most have order!
Heck I thought of buying a bunch of those white cardboard boxes and just use them. Less than $1.00 each!

I've just adopted the loose rounds in a 30 or 50 cal ammo can approach after watching one of Jerry Miculek's videos.

I got tired of all the bags and multi sized boxes everywhere and then they all have to be opened individually when you want to go shooting. Ammo cans even come with a nifty handle.

This. Exactly the solution for easy clean storage

Stop complaining. Reload more.

You should have more practice ammo loads developed by now and ready to go. Load them. They will fill your supposedly excess boxes. Then you won't be able to boast about how many ammo boxes you have.

That done you'll then be able to complain you don't have enough boxes to put all of your practice ammo in!

I wish I could complain like this! But, NO, this build stuff I need and "Honey do" thing has taken on a life of it's own like Frankenstein's monster so that now I find myself without enough to get my shooting in to finish all of the load development I have started. It's not right!

Start eating peanut butter filled pretzells and save their jars. No more problems with weirdo ammo boxes. Pick two or three ammo boxes that nest and match and when you reload, fill up pretzel jars. Then fill your ammo boxes from them.

you can't beat them and emptying them so you can use them in reloading, is the best part.

I bet you have the best smelling reloads of any THR member!:D

I only load up a few hundred at a time, as I need them. The only reason I don't like to keep thousands of loaded rounds on hand is because of so many stories of "my reloading neighbor passed away and he had thousands of loaded rounds, what do I do with them" and the general consensus is (rightfully so) that components are easier to deal with than loaded rounds.

For .38 Wadcutters and 9mm everyday rounds, I usually load a bunch at a time. Right now I just started on a 4k run of 9mm. I normally put them in plastic 50 caliber ammo boxes. If you look around you can usually find them on sale for around $4-5 each. I got a small fortune tied up in 100 round ammo boxes that are mostly full right now. I do have shelf built that is about 12" wide and 4' long just to store the empty 100 round boxes.

I used to use plastic ammo boxes but they were inefficient storage and took up too much space when empty.

I now use freezer Zip Loc bags, mostly pint size but some quart. They pack nicely in the metal ammo cans, they are reusable, and they do not take up much space when empty.

I fill 30 cal ammo cans full of reloads for each pistol caliber clearly labeled with caliber and load information. I print a second label with the same information and put it on an empty Hodgdon 1lb bottle. The Hodgdon labels peel right off the plastic bottle. I fill the powder bottle and put them in a 2 gallon bucket. The bucket goes to the range with me and when I get home I top off the bottles from the ammo in the ammo cans.

I highly recommend this label printer, I use it for everything.

I use the plastic ammo boxes to keep specialty ammo specific to a firearm that I will only stock 100 or less at all times. The generic and blasting stuff goes into Zip Loc freezer bags with info and into USGI ammo cans. The various plastic trays and boxes I collect at the range go away with ammo that will be used in lost matches where I can't retreive my brass or at the indoor ranges that dont like you shooting reloads and keep your brass.;).
