OK guys, I have almost a 1000 CCI 450, small rifle magnum primers and am thinking of using them in 357 magnum pistol rounds. I would use H110 or IMR4227 powder with 155 gr cast bullets with gas checks. Is this dangerous? Could I have a "catastrophic malfunction?" Somewhere I read to start with a slightly reduced powder charge, say 5%. I can't find CCI 550 mag primers anywhere. Any thoughts. Thanks.

If the gun will set them off should be no problem.
I think they sat a little deeper in the primer pocket the time I used them.

They will not seat as deep, and will have hard cups. You may be ok but the right tool for the job is always best.

When the output of the primer is to high, the bullet may move to soon. This may result in a secondary pressure spike.

If bullets move too soon, H110 may not burn correctly. Squib.

I think it will be fine. :)
