This is my P90. Bought it used from a local pawnshop that was going out of business last year. I really like the gun no malfunctions and is accurate. However, I don't like these dings where it has been dropped at sometime in its life. Is there anything I can do to repair it to get it looking atleast close back to the factory? Could Ruger do anything for it if I contacted and sent it back to them?

Thanks in advance

I don't know. You could call Ruger. I don't think they support the P-series anymore but it doesn't cost anything to ask questions. About the only other thing I could think of would be to maybe try to smooth it out some & cerakote it. I am not sure how much you could actually do with the frame as it is investment cast aluminum. If it were me I would probably just roll with it. If anyone says anything about the little ding use it to outshoot them.

The frame is aluminum, so I'd be careful of over doing it and removing anodizing from an important place.

EDIT: That said, the butt of the grip doesn't see any terrible punishment during shooting...

If it’s just the cosmetic aspect that’s bothering you you could sand and polish out the dings, then have one of the baked epoxy paints applied.

I don’t expect Ruger to do anything for cosmetic damage, although I’ve been wrong before so a call to them can’t hurt.

If it were mine I’d probably just smooth out the sharp bits and use it. I think of guns as tools and tools get used. Honest wear isn’t doesn’t bother me much.

Probably dropped when the cops yelled at a previous owner. Bet that thing has stories to tell. Invent one and roll with it...the gun's got character.

I've got one too. No dings, but its south Florida pawn shop origin is suspect.

I like the “character” marks on guns. That is a great pistol.

I've had one for about a quarter of a century.
It wasn't pretty when I bought it used, but it became pretty reliable once I scraped all of the casting media out of the frame.
I worry about it collecting dings about as much as I worry about dings on a tire iron.

You can always touch it up with a sharpie marker that matches the frame color. It won't remove the dings, but make them less noticable.

You have a great gun, enjoy it!

If that one were mine I am sure that
a) I would not send it away to be worked on , given the pistol type and the nature of the dings
b) The dings would bug me enough that I'd want to address the situation.

Soften the sharp edges with a nail file type foam core emery board. Then treat with aluminum black.
Cheap , easy , fun.

This treatment will not completely erase the dings , but will surely soften them , and the pistol will look cared for.

Your gun, so do what you think is necessary. My concern is that anything other than a refinish of the entire frame will look like a patch job and might appear worse than the minor dings. Ask me how I know this. If you go ahead with home remediation, I would recommend the least aggressive solution, maybe the matching the frame color with the magic marker as another poster recommended.

It's not going to rust. Smooth it and shoot it. My P89 could only dream about looking that good.

I feel your pain. I've actually sold a couple rifles, for fear of damaging the wood stocks. But there's not much you can do for the pistol, except go with it.
Mind over matter, if you don't mind, it don't matter. Maybe you can just find a grip which will cover it. Hogue, perhaps?

OTOH, the Ruger P-Series is a great pistol, for what they are. Strong, dependable, accurate. Typical Ruger tank.

Now, you don't see too many tank commanders, obsessing, about dents on their rear bumpers, do you ?
