Earplugs or ear muffs?

Only plugs for me, even at indoor ranges.
Only because I haven't found earmuffs that move my glasses too much to make using sights near impossible.
My next big purchase is going to be prescription goggles with a strap, not arms, which will make my Mosin Nagant more fun.

Plugs 99% of the time.
1% someone is shooting a super-duper magnum that rattles the concrete benches and baffles then both.

I wear both, my plugs are custom made and I wear noise suppressing muffs. I'm almost 60 years old, Been around airplanes my entire life. Between the airplanes (Air Force, large transport, piston and jet), motorcycles and being an avid shooter and reloader I've lost a lot of hearing. I've always worn hearing protection and I'm still wearing hearing aids to clearly hear the world. I'm not deaf but when I got my hearing aids 3 years ago and realized just how much I was missing it was kinda stunning. Don't be me.....

'Bout sums it up for me, too. For shotgunning, I prefer just plugs. I don't want to scratch up the stock on my Ljutic with muffs.
Somehow, I am able to wear thick Howard Leight electronic muffs without an issue on my Brownings, Berettas, even my gas guns. Remember to use suncreen on the top of your ears if you wear a baseball cap with those plugs. I see a LOT of old time trap shooters with pieces missing from there due to sun-caused skin cancer

Hi...
I use muffs only.
Used the standard muffs for many years but switched to electronic muffs about a year ago.
They work well even for the loudest handguns and rifles.
I shoot hundreds of rounds just about every weekend and even at the advanced age of 65, I can still hear a squirrel's claws on a tree trunk.

The thing that really got me serious about eye and ear protection was my phone. I have a drop case and a screen protector on a completely replaceable object. My eyes and ears don’t get replaced; shouldn’t I be more serious about protecting them? So for shooting, mowing the lawn, working with power tools- eyes and ears, always.
