I bought one because I had some extra cash and I wanted a .357 SIG.

I work in consumer products, and I know that all sorts of products are flying off the shelves. They say guns are being sold because people are scared. I think people are just bored and have extra cash since they aren’t eating at Olive Garden.

Looks like gun sales are about double from last year, but so are a lot of other products.

Meh, Ive been armed to the teeth since Y2K and really just buying what I like since then and keeping my ammo dump topped off.

Given recent events, Ive been concentrating on building networks of trustworthy, skilled folks who might be helpful if it really drops in the pot, scouting fallback locations, stockpiling food and medical supplies and the like.

The firepower is in place, but thats only one facet of surviving whats coming.

When somebody wants to sell me a firearm through a private sale becauss they need the money to pay bills I will give them fair market value for it. Also I hold it for at least 9 months before I sell it if I choose to do so. In that time they can buy it back for exactly what they were paid for it. I figure if they want it back bad enough then they will come up with the money. Once I held a 30-30 for a guy for 2 years because he kept in contact and wanted it back in the family when he had the funds. I am sitting on three at the moment and will see what transpires. I only buy when I have money that is not earmarked for serious things like food and housing.

I've purchased four in 2020 so far.

First in March on a whim because I picked it up in the gun store and had to have it (CZ Shadow 2). I was there helping a relative shop for their first firearm and I convinced them to pony up for an AR-15 instead of a pump action shotgun. Wise choice. This was just as the whole Covid thing started occurring and mere days before the lockdown first happened in Pennsylvania.

Second one in April because I was looking to replace my .40S&W carry piece with a 9mm, and found a good private party deal on a Beretta PX4 Storm. Great gun, has been 100% reliable for me. Very much overlooked IMO. Rotating lockup is cool and unusual.

Third one also in April because I wanted a revolver in 9mm, to share ammo with the new brass chuckers.

Fourth one in May because I was dissatisfied with my .22lr revolver so I traded it in on a different .22lr revolver.

I might buy a fifth gun sometime this year because I don't yet own an AR-15, but it's a relatively low priority as I already have a military pattern semiauto rifle to fit that use. I do not begrudge anyone who panic buys a gun, because at the end of the day, their eyes are still opened as to why the 2A is important.

Always wanted an HK45, pawn shop that my buddy works at got one in, bought it the day it came off hold. Do want to get a 22lr revolver soon, I have a fair amount or shorts and longs as well as my long rifle to shoot

I decided it was time to become a gun owner. Boy what a horrible time to decide do that. Co workers are into guns kept telling me to stop wasting money on buying pocket knives, I could have bought a pistol for what I spent on a couple knives. I was a decent shot when my work would do outings with guns

Have bought a few guns this year but had nothing to do with this great plague. When this "lets all lock down" was being talked about I did lay in a couple extra cases of ammo above what I normally have and order. Was sure glad I did as no sooner did it show up they did start the lock downs and within a week the stuff was in another full on panic shortage.
I have had a couple family members who have LONG whispered behind my back and seemed to think we were kooks, now making inquiries on a gun. I as always tell them if they want to go to the range I go weekly. One did even go to a shop with the Wife to window shop a little. Most of them probably are not thinking of us as such Kooks any more :)

A good knife is pretty awesome too.

I've bought guns in 2020;

1.) Kahr Thompson M1A style semiauto version of the WW2 SMG.
2.) Ruger Precision Rifle in .17HMR
3.) Miroku made Winchester 1866 rifle.
4.) Uberti Colt 1873 bird head grip .45 revolver.
5.) Browning BL-22 lever action .22 rifle.
6.) Smith & Wesson Airweight snubby in .38sp.

None had anything to do with covid or the extremist riots, but obviously the S&W .38 could be conceal carry if needed.

I've sold more than I've bought so far this year. There's one more on the list to but this year, but it still won't balance the scales.

[QUOTE="375supermag, post: 11582536, member: 210711"...sometimes I just want another rifle, shotgun or handgun. And... that's enough reason.[/QUOTE]

That’s what I’m talking about!

I could really have voted both so I had to vote that I bought a gun (2 actually) out of “concerns”. My concerns were with lawmakers though, not rioters or viruses. I’m pretty well set in the SD / HD departments.

One was an AK type rifle. I live in Va and our elected officials have decided that they’d like us to lose the right to own such guns and hi cap magazines. That battle is still being fought but it looks like we’re losing. I own several of those evil type rifles but figured I wanted at least one more while I still could.

Those same elected officials passed new legislation requiring all gun sales to go through an FFL and the purchaser to pass a UBC. Again I wanted one more gun before that law passed and made one last private purchase of a 9mm pistol. Not because I can’t pass a back ground check. Just because I’ve been privately buying and selling guns without them for years and was just mad that I’ve lost yet another freedom.

I also buy bought an old side by side just cause I wanted it, and I never stop buying ammo so I guess my answer to this poll is...yes.
