Hello... Not much in service caliber ammo to be found around here unless you want to pay premium prices, but my local Walmart has plenty of Federal Target Auto Match bricks. I just happened to be in today to get some fishing hooks for an all out assault on the local small mouth bass population and saw plenty. I bought a few to kind of stock up, as my girls love shooting my Ruger Mark IV. So do I. Anyway, even had plenty of CCI Standard Velocity 100 round packs. It gives me hope to see this. I'm really proud to be an American and I love our country and the opportunity we are blessed with to live here.

Using it in a Ruger Mark IV will put you in violation of corporate policy.

A cousin of mine was trying to buy .45 for one of the auto ordinance Tommy guns when he was 19. They wouldn't sell it to him because it was handgun ammo and his license said he was 19 . He argued for a while and gave up. He bought the gun legally but then had to have an elder buy him ammo.

I stocked up after the draught of 08. Currently have over 20,000 rounds. Most bulk Federal. Some CCI stinger's. And miscellaneous others. Just wish I would have stocked that much 9mm.

These ammo panics/hoarding events are becoming way too common. Like others, I learned in 2008 and stocked up once the supply recovered.

Way too much paranoia going around these days.

Wally (at least the ones that still sell ammo) have always been one place to buy ammo when we go through these panic shortages. During the last great panic shortage several years ago I used to get some from them every so often. Wife for some reason that is beyond me still likes to shop at Wally. So since she was going anyway I gave her a list of the kind of .22 to watch for while there. Now and then she would come home with a handful of boxes that the one near us happened to have. Stores like this if you are going to be there anyway can't hurt to look while there.

I saw that yesterday evening when I was doing my grocery shopping,,,
They didn't have any .22 except for seven or eight 325 round bulk packs of Auto Match.

I considered buying a few but changed my mind.

I'll probably be kicking myself for not getting at least three of those,,,
But I'm trying to pare my rimfire stash down to three brands Wal Mart usually carries.

My Wal Mart is very convenient for me to pop in on my way to work,,,
I think I'll start acting like it's the Obama era and start doing so in the mornings.

I've been seeing CCI standard in 50rd packs for $3.50 about every other trip to walmart. I ran across some of the new orange stripe box but heard a few reports they changed it and they arent as accurate anymore. I grabbed 300rds to give it a try and passed when I found it again a week later because I havent been able to test them yet.

I have most of my life stuck with the CCI MM's as they always seemed the best all around. During last panic I was buying several other kinds and have been this time too. The Fed. AM is one. Bought a few cases of it so far since this latest panic hit. In all 5 of my .22's the stuff seems to work fine. So I am burning it up on range trips. After last great panic came to an end it took me a long time to use up the "other stuff" I had bought. If you have not tried it could not hurt to grab a box or two of this stuff when they have it there again. See how your guns like it.

I did the same thing with a hi point carbine in 40. I bought in the manual and a picture of me holding the gun at the range. A couple people let buy some. Some of the none gun people that would come from other departments would not let me buy. I learned pretty quick on which days to work.

Hello Alex Clayton:

That's not bad advice at all.

Actually, I have tried it in all of my bolt rifles,,,
At this moment I have three and a half 325 round packs,,,
It works fine and seems to be more consistent than my mediocre skills require.

I'm gifting a vintage Mossberg bolt-action to the young son of a dear friend,,,
I will be giving him those three packs to go along with the rifle.

I've simply decided to try and standardize on three brands/types of ammo,,,
Mini-Mags for my semi-auto pistols, CCI SV for my semi-auto rifles,,,
Federal 550 round bulk packs (Wal Mart) for everything else.

Just trying to keep the ammo rack tidy. :)
