Walmart and Guns

Not mine. The sales guy was nice enough to retrieve a box in order to make carrying all the 45 ACP/9MM/ and 22 CCI boxes easier. This was just last week. Could have bought more had I brung more money! :)

Mine isn't, but there again, they never have the WWB in 9mm FMJ anymore. I have to go two or three times every week before I eventually luck up and find some. Its about time to stop buying there.

I went to buy Federal .22lr in the 550pack Sunday night. Sold out of it.
Bought two boxes 550 Rem Golden Bullet instead. About a 2 dollar per box increase over the Fed. The guy at the counter said they had trouble getting federal in anymore.

I looked to see if they had 9mm value packs but none was there to be found.

I do not mind if they ration. Makes it fair for everyone. Ammo hoarders are just sticking it to other shooters and helping drive up prices I think.

i'd like to have a box of 9mm but if someone goes ahead of me and buys all of it I guess I am on the short end.

And as for the picture taking, well I do not mind. I ain't hiding nothing from anyone. If I want something off paper I will buy in a FTF sale from a private seller. Whats the big deal?

My local walmart hasnt made any cutbacks in the guns. They just recently built a new desk and gun case back there. Maybe they are taking the guns and ammo from your stores and brining it here!

Just got off the phone with someone names Viki at corporate. She states that the new policy is that in states with a readable strip clerks are to swipe the ID. She didn't make mention if the system required it in order to proceed, but it's policy according to her.

I told her that that means while it is in effect I'll suck up a large percentage increase on certain items and go down the street.

On the upside she seemed to understand my points and not brush them off, and if it was acting she deserve a little golden man (at least the cheap plastic ones walmart sells). "Hundreds of internet forum responses from various forums with my same reaction" seemed to sink in the most.

Will try it out in a few weeks just to see if it's still in place. If it is no more hassle then telling the clerk to put it back on the shelf.

I read here that members are buying guns at Walmart. I have bought a few guns from Walmart in the past, as I found that they had good prices on Rifles and Shotguns. None of the Walmart Stores here in Southwest Ohio (Cincinnati Area) sell guns anymore. Is that also the case in their stores in other areas?

FWIW, I just returned from a trip to the Walmart near me, in Littleton, CO. I purchased some .22lr and some 7.62x39 without even showing my I.D.

My Colorado DL does have a magnetic strip, and there have been recent news reports about local liquor stores swiping I.D.s

WalMart is scaling back their firearm sales. Someone else can chime in, but I believe only a small percentage will still sell them according to market strength. They also had legal issues IIRC.

If they sell a lot of guns, they sell guns. If they are in an area with few guns sales, it is not cost effective for them to sell guns. If they are in an area with many gun laws, it may not be cost effective for them to sell guns. It really depends on the market. They make their money on buying large quantities of products at cheaper prices. That includes guns.

All local walmarts that i have been to sell long guns. They dont seem to have much ammo in pistol cartriges but they have 9mm and thats all im worried about.

I havent seen any in my area even scale back their gun department.

Can we just have one GIANT wal-mart thread?

Your wish is my command. From here on out, you can come to this thread to get all of your anti-big-box retailer commentary in bulk and at deep discount prices.

In fact, the entire point of this thread will be to drive all of the mom-and-pop anti-walmart threads right out of business.

apparently the manager has alot to do with it....The sportinggoods manager at my local WM was all ready give me a 10-20% discount if I bought a case of Winclean...untill he ran it by the store manager....she put the kibosh on it.He was all apologetic and said she was "touchy about gun stuff"This was a while back.
I went to WM today for other stuff and took a run through the "gun dept"...the y downsized their ammo stock quite a bit,I was going to ask the Kid about it but he seemed to be having register issues w/ a customer and was about to cry,so I just kept walking.

I would be a shame if they stopped carrying ammo all together.
