With .40 G22 I can always get few boxes of Tulammo at Walmart which I pass on my way to the range.

I don't know where you were in the last shortage, but where I live .40, 9mm and .45 acp was hard to find for a very long time. Thankfully we handload and had a few thousand primers and several pounds of powder on hand. My shooting practices never changed.
There is nothing wrong with preparation.
If I die with 20k rounds, oh well. My brother and nephews will have a lot of fun on my dime.

It's also fine to not buy in bulk if that's what you choose to do.
Just don't get on here bashing people who are prepared when the next shortage comes around like some do who choose not to prepare.
