Undecided for now.
I fully support legal, responsible, concealed carrying, as I conceal carry every day.
However, I do not support open carry.
I think allowing might open a can of worms that would be very hard to unravel.
For example, if allowed on boats, trains, planes, etc, why not in schools, government buildings, or court rooms.
It's a enigma wrapped up in a conundrum.

Transportation security is really a separate issue from gun rights generally. Especially since the events of 9/11, we as a society have decided that a weapons-free "sanitary cordon" on means of transportation is justifiable. I for one don't like the risk of being hijacked to Cuba (or worse) every time I get on a plane.
A solid citizen should be able to carry wherever and however they please.
There's no foolproof way of determining who's a "solid citizen" under the circumstances, for example, of boarding planes. The time required for verification would make the whole airline system grind to a halt.

Who determines if they are a solid citizen? And someone who was a solid citizen yesterday may not be today. With rights come responsibilities. Lots of folks on all sides screaming about their rights, but not all of them want to accept the responsibilities that go along with it.

I believe anyone capable of carrying concealed ought to be able to carry anywhere. If it's concealed, who knows? If there was universal concealed carry that would inhibit some who would be tempted to commit a crime in a public place. I am not a fan of open carry, though I do understand those who feel otherwise. In my view, open carry is less of a deterrent to criminal behavior than universal concealed carry.

I voted NO.
Mostly because silly poll is silly.

A person can ALREADY carry a firearm on an airplane....if its his.
Their plane, their bus, their train, their rules.

My bottom line is anyone that can not be trusted to bear arms, should be confined in some facility. The bad guys (criminals or worse) already carry weapons. TSA stops only the few obvious persons that generally just forgot about the weapon or did not understand that the item was considered a weapon.

Because bearing arms is scary.

Yes... why not?

If you have the right, BUT... then you don't have a right at all.

And I'm not even a libertarian. :D

A discharge in a pressurized cabin, no thanks. I will vote no for untrained personnel carrying inside an airliner.

I hate the word "allowed." I don't see that word anywhere in the Bill of Rights.

A solid citizen should be able to carry wherever and however they please.
And I do not see in the BoR where they differentiate between ":solid" citizens and those with a record; so do not disallow those folks; that is, IF you truly believe what you posted.

When I hear something like this, I always think of The New York Shooting of 25 people aboard the Long Island Rail Road. Watched the trial all the way through with this nut job. He just went down the isle killing everyone. If only one person had a CCW, might have made a huge difference.

Every time I read of one of these were some scum is shooting people in a place where guns are not allowed my blood pressure goes up. If they want to search everyone so no kook can have a gun? Fine. When they just tell the law abiding they can't but let the scum do it? You get the fish in a barrel shootings. Its why I have ALWAYS carried at work. Some jobs it was fine, others it would be a get fired thing. Since I never felt the need to play with the gun and or show it to everyone I did not care. Figured if I needed it to stay alive I could find another job.

This should be very simple. Board a COMMERCIAL train, boat, bus or plane with a firearm as a American Citizen with NO deferrals.

Is that OK?

So, you have no issue violating the corporate policies you agreed to when hired and then lied about it..............says a lot about you.

It isn't a right if the government "allows" or you have to get permission to do it. Also, If everyone else knows there is a good possibility that someone else in their vicinity is carrying a weapon, they are less likely to use a weapon. If a person does try to use it, the threat can be neutralized within a few seconds. So yes, we should allow any citizen to carry anywhere. Generally speaking, most of the mass shootings happen in areas that are gun free zones. Only problem there is criminals don't follow the rules and a "Gun Free Zone" sign means nothing. Sooner or later you either deter those who plan to do harm, or get rid of a majority of those who do try it. Just my take. Take care all.

There are so many people who legally walk their dog, ride a bike, or drive a car with such staggering ineptitude, that I would hate to see them with a firearm at any time. Let alone on public transport.
