Poll:
Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public?

65427 votes
Yes! The Second Amendment guarantees it.
No, it's too dangerous.
Only for self defense.

Yes is at 88% :D

The link works now. I voted. As of right now it is 88% pro carry.

Works now.....And of course it shows that Yes, "we should be able to" by 58K votes out of 66k votes. :)

Gee, wish I could. Customers come in all the time open carry. Employees who do that are promoted to Customer on sight.

That policy exists across the board in Corporate America.

Nice to see the response, those of us who work for someone else are banned from carry 40 hours a week.

Where it the poll on that?

I was a soldier in the US Army Reserves and it became very apparent my rights were curtailed as soon as I put on the uniform. Part and parcel of serving. But the exact same situation exists the minute you park your car at work - your rights are curtailed.

There are those who are making a show of being able to open carry where they "please," yet I don't seem to see them making the point with their employer.

They don't seem to want to cross that line. All fine and dandy in principle, when it comes to our paycheck, not so much. We knuckle under.

This is exactly the same way that others allow oppression in third world countries. The "why can't we get along" notion boils down to just accepting whatever the policy is of those in power over us.

It's not a level playing field and likely never will be. The days of just going about our business as we see fit in this regard began to die when NYC started regulating a may issue licence for gun carry in 1911. While the previous attempt in Georgia in 1837 was struck down (and is a great read for 2A rights,) the results of the Sullivan Act in NY have been disastrous to our rights.

It's not without irony that we see Sullivan, a known corrupt Tammany Hall politician, and Rangel, also censured for ethics violations, and who passed the closure of the machine gun registery by voice vote of the Hughes Amendment. That was included in the ironically named Firearms Owners Protection Act.

Brings to mind the old saying, the love of money is the root of all evil. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

If carrying guns in public is such a bad idea then let's take them away from all law enforcement as well since they're only good for killing people - right?.:scrutiny:

It's amazing to me how THR members flock to these meaningless click bait polls.

These are designed to generate site traffic and ad revenue, without the direct link many people will never see it.

plexreticle, if we don't vote and the antis get the majority, then MSNBC will make sure to mention it. Not only would news outlets across the nation parrot the results, claiming things like, "The majority of Americans disapprove of open carry" but politicians would get the wrong idea. By sharing links to these polls and making sure the pro-gun side wins, we are able to prevent such situations (even if the results are never shared from polls that we "win").

I urge everyone that comes across a poll to share the link here. Let the media know that we are a team

Also, the poll is now closed. Mods, it would be cool to keep the thread open a little longer to allow further discussion on whether or not it is worthwhile to participate in them.

Actually I just cast a vote a minute ago.

.
Yes, we should be "allowed" to carry guns in public, but, as gentlemen and women, why attract any undue attention?

Urban environment, concealed.

Rural, open carry.

I have a suspicion that Keith Olbermann wont be sharing the results on television...If the poll doesnt line up with their thinking they probably toss it until they get one that does..

(forgive me if Ive confused Olbermann with the wrong channel, they all kind of blend together.)

Yes, I think so.
More importantly, the Second Amendment thinks so. :neener:
And you got the Keith Olberman reference right. Not that he knows (or cares) anything about the Constitution.

When you say "allowed," it's like one must pass a law to say it may be done. That is not freedom. Freedom demands that no law is required to allow it, and no law can be written to prohibit it. "Shall not be infringed," says it all.

If open carry bothers some people, tough. They'll get over it.

I agree. SCOTUS. ruled in another case, not a 2A one, that one should never have to pay a monetary amount to exercise a right, because if you have to pay for it, it's not a right.
