The first 12 Gauge I ever shot a critter with was my Uncle's WesternField M550A shotgun with C-leck choke.

For the last 50 years I made noises about wanting one of the store branded Mossberg 500s like it.
Then today I walk into a local pawn shop halfway looking for a couple of .22s they had for over a year when I saw "my Uncle's Shotgun" in the wall rack.

Needs a good cleaning so I rather than sending a newbee there will be visiting Mini-Me and his Mossberg 500 in the sticky area possibly to night or after church tomorrow.

Got some speckelling on the barrel C-leck a choke opens and closes fine. A few scratches in the butt but nothing awful.

Will try to get pictures after it is cleaned up.

yep, two rails and either 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells and hard plastic butt plate (before folks ask).

off course I will look for either a factory 18.5 inch barrel or a plain barreled Sneech that can be cut next month... don't be silly I ain't cutting nothing off this jewel.

My M500 is branded Revelation, made for Western Auto. Standing in the corner right now, ready to give bad guys a “revelation”.

Well I got it apart down to the bolt out. Looked like mainly old lube but some carbon. Two little rust spots on one leg of the action bars that came off with a little urging and sand paper. Everything coated in a very light coat of Magic German Gun Elixir (Ballistoil) and back together.

Odd thing is the fore end and butt seem to be of different wood with the front sort of walnut with figure and the Butt looking like your standard cheap gun birch. I don't care about the miss match but one wonders it it left the factory that way or something got changed.

My Pard is now harassing me to get a "security barrel" for it. I rather like it just the way it is. I am considering going with a rifle sighted 20 inch slugster barrel rather than an 18.5 inch with gold bead for a shorter alternative should the times call for something more handy. Don't see the extra inch and a half barrel as being a big loss and like the idea of rifle sights if I do need to use slugs.

Have one like it, sounds almost identical. For 10 years, maybe.

Got it in a trade, it has never failed.

Really hard on flying cockroaches, aka pigeons.
