Mossberg 600CT twenty gauge barrel. The barrel is 28 inches with a C-lect Choke.

At first I was going to have the gunsmith cut off the choke. Now I have reconsidered.

The right course might be to keep it as is. Purchase another barrel and be finished.

Why cut off the barrel at all? Purchase an 18.5 inch and just swap!

Do you guys have any experience with these chokes? The barrel is vented as well!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

As I get older (67) I discover I really know very little...

I had one. Until the C-Lect choke and about 3" of barrel, including the vents, decided to depart the rest of the gun. Mossberg repaired it (replaced the barrel) and I promptly sold it. I like the idea of the versatility until I tried it. Have hated them ever since.

C-Lect Choke

Maybe I should let the smith cut it off and just have a plain Jane.

I sure do not want it to leave the barrel and take three inches with it!!

:)

Back in the late 1970's a good friend had a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 with one on it. We used it in a turkey shoot with it cranked down until the internal fingers touched. The pattern was dense and point of aim. We took seven turkeys with it between us. We left as folks were starting to get angry.

I like them.

I would look really hard to find either a ready made barrel in the length I wanted or a simple fix choked barrel I could cut before I cut that clect-choke barrel.

Having two barrels is always a good thing as it gives you more options.
