I have one Marlin 1894 SBL, 44 mag, 16.5” barrel.

I want to do a Holosun Reflex/magnifier combo.

Change my mind. If I got a traditional scope, I am loyal to Leupold. What magnification and optic would be best?

What are you shooting at, under what conditions and how far away?

Personally, I’d rather have a 1-4, with an illuminated reticle that a red dot and separate fixed power magnifier.

I got one of the Leupold 1.5X4 scopes (Hogplex) for my Marlin 336 30-30. It is bright and clear and compact. I sort of like it though I could do with a African style cross hair, the post type. But, the Hogplex on the current scope is fine.

I put a leupold fxii 2.5x20 on my 1894c. I love it. I like it better than the 1-4x leupold I have on my 1894ss. It eleminated the need of a thumb spur, but was a little tricky to mount because the eye relief is so long.

So if I do an optic, fixed or small mognification with 20mm objective?

Paper for now. I want to get up to 100. But realistically 50-75. Eventually shooting 4 legged things. I’m in Spokane, so I’m gonna assume some cloudy days. I need good light-gathering glass for sure.

Fixed 2.5x20 is the Leupold I would use. On my own 1894, I already had a spare Leupold 1-4x20 so that is what I used and would recommend that as well.

My first choice would be a Meopta Optika6 1-6x24 RD SFP with 4C reticle.

My second would be a VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 Firedot.

I like the VX Freedom. I have an older VX-R on my R700. I did find one with a 20mm objective, then one with a 33mm that’s really cheap. Found some vx3i’s decently priced. Also found some older Mark 1 AR MODs for cheap.
