It is not their job to protect you; it is your job to do your own due diligence.
That's a bit trite, considering you don't know what went down. Anyways, my point remains, GB does not offer buyer protection that other options do.

Suppose you tell us.

Not true. Gun Broker buyer protection https://support.gunbroker.com/hc/en-us/articles/224766967

GunAuction buyer protection? It looks like they have none.https://www.gunauction.com/help/helpinfo.cfm
How do I protect myself from fraud if I have already won an auction?
.......GunAuction.com is a safe place to do business. Fraud doesn't happen often, and most people are honest folk trying to make a living. Help us keep it that way by keeping your eyes open for those wishing to make a mess of our website. You can alert us to any breaches of the GunAuction.com peace, or attempts at stealing your money by sending us an email to [email protected] OR calling us at (877)GUN-AUCT.

One huge issue with that electronic establishment is it is full of “NR” (No Record) accounts. These are people who have not received feedback from anyone and most likely those who’ve never bought or sold anything on the website.

Unfortunately, many of these people in my own personal experience either don’t follow through on sales or are a bother to deal with. I dread every time an NR buyer bids on one of my items. There is no way to block them unless they’ve already bid and even then you have to be quick.

If they don’t end up paying you have to go through a big process to file a claim to recoup the auction costs.

Every buyer starts as an "NR". I did and now I've got more than 30 A+ feedbacks. Some seller had to accept my bid. Do you have a better idea? You bar NR buyers from bidding and you get no new buyers into the system. Eventually you sell nothing.

GunBorcker needs to make is easier on sellers when the NR pups come up short on there end of the deal. Glad you haven’t been burnt by them, I must sell more guns than you.

Literally EVERY GunBroker, GunAuction and Ebay user started out with zero feedbacks..........including you.:what:
It's not just bidders with zero feedback, but there are plenty of A+ rated buyers with only three or four feedbacks that welsh on a winning bid.

As are all new to GunBroker or Ebay. Heck at least once a month there's a thread here on THR where someone thinks GunBroker is the seller and not an auction host. Ignorance is one thing, but bidding without consequences needs to be addressed by GunBroker.

That's 100% GunBrokers fault.

It should be easier without a doubt.

There has only been one firearm I have bought on GB and that was a Marlin 1894 levergun in .357 that I bought from a seller in CO. We emailed back & forth a couple of times making arrangements for me to send him a personal check. I wanted to see if he would take a check before I tried to win the auction and he was willing to do so. He held the gun for about 7-10 days before sending it to my FFL. No problems or hitches.

Well, they do make it quite clear what your commitment is before you click that "Submit Bid" button, and what the consequences of your default are:
View media item 3340What else do you want them to do?
Ummm.................yeah, we know what the bidders commitment means. What you miss by a mile is that GunBroker does not do anything to bidders that dont pay. Instead of immediately banning them they usually give them second and third chances.

Sellers can block such bidders from their future auctions, but GB doesn't have a "deadbeat bidders" list that is blocked from all auctions site wide......it should.

I've purchased one item thru GB and it was a smooth and simple process.

Truth be told I was VERY nervous. Noone around me had the rifle in stock, gold dealers couldn't find one and this particular GB seller had 25 on hand. Plus the price wasn't extremely marked up like the others (slightly below msrp, above retail, but hundreds less then other sellers) and the seller had a handful of negative reviews. The reviews I chocked up to impatient folks wanting their item now but not understanding most firearm business are overwhelmed right now.

In the end, payment and finding a local FFL was easy as could be. Seller sent me tracking information within 48 hours and I had my big boy within a week of ordering. Overall very satisfied and plan on utilizing the site again for future purchases.
