Ive been reaching out to friends in other cities to see if they can Che k for primers when it’s convenient.

P.S. I also feel like asking random people

Im too dumb to think of these sorts of things, but im smart enough to post here at least.

Im calling a friend a little south of me to see if he'll start keeping an eye out.

I've personally been checking "local" gun shops , by local i mean within a two hour drive. Several weeks ago even those sources dried up.
Not ready to rely on random friends.

Not for primers but ammo in general.

Me and three friends call each other when we see ammo on the shelf,,,
Just this morning I purchased two 550 round bulk packs of .22 LR,,,
And ten 50 round boxes of CCI SV .22 LR.

I'm very well stocked up on .22 LR,,,
So I didn't need this batch.

But, I had it sold to my friends before I left the parking lot.

If I had friends who reloaded,,,
I would call them about any I see on the shelves.

It's simple networking.

We will see loaded ammo come back long before we will see primers back on the shelves. Same thing every time this happens.
The majority of the primer being made is going to Police, military, factory ammo. We are last on the list. We just have to wait.

Have enough primers to last for several more years. The past few years saw many times they were on sale for twenty bucks or less a thousand. Consumables that don’t go bad and are on sale cheap? Throw in no tax and free shipping? I’ll stock up every time.

Saw a post here on THR last year where someone was pointing out Remington SPP on sale for twenty a thousand with free shipping. Only bought 15k. Just didn’t need anymore. Those sales will come again when this shortage passes. Shelves will be full. Panic buying will be a distant memory and manufacturing will once again far outpace demand before they realize they were caught up six months ago. Sales will be used to clear the backlog of stock and once again I’ll stock up on the cheap. I’m good to go as long as that happens in the next five years. ;)

I have been hit up about selling some items. I thought it was ridiculous when I got offered ten bucks a flat for spp or srp. I don’t have much to spare, but I have found some to spare. Sharing is caring. But I need 209s and have yet to find any. I’m seriously considering harvesting Walmart bulk pack junk for shot and primers for my 16ga.

Nope. I stocked up long ago before this current nonsense.

Want me to talk about the 6,000 winchester large rifle primers I bought for $24 per thousand in March at the local show

Rubbing peoples noses in it isn't the right thing to do right now. Do you want me to talk about the 6000 large match grade pistol primers I bought last year for $4.00 per thousand in a 90% off sale I stumbled into. I doubt it.

I have in excess of, well, I'll say 30K small pistol primers alone, but that won't help anyone here find them on the shelves for sale anytime soon.

We will see factory ammo come back first because Police, Military, and Factory ammo get top priority. We are last on the list.

We just have to wait it out and if we see any for sale, post it in the sticky thread at the top titled "Where are there reloading component available these days" so those of us who need them can maybe find them.

Absolutely, and I’ve been that friend.

I just bought a 1000 Federal small rifle primers for my neighbor when I happened to be in LGS buying powder. I had no need for small rifle primers, but I knew he (retired Air Force vet) and his son (recently retired Army) shoot a lot of 223 and they had been looking for 3 months with no luck.

I have no idea how I lucked into them when I did, but it felt damn good giving them away. He had no idea, so he was pretty excited when he opened his door.

Too bad your not closer I could help you out. I even have some old 109 laying around and some 157? I still have some RP cases (20ga) that use those old add ball primers.

Just recently gave my SIL 2 mec 600 jr presses a 20 and a 12 with all the components to load including about 20 lbs of lead #6 shot.

...also there were many a home liquor cabinet at friends’ parent’s houses that fell victim.

Used to go to massive desert parties where no one cared about your age, except to bully you just because you were 8th grade or freshman. Just quickly learned to fight, make friends with a couple bigger, older friends...and eventually that standing at the keg, pumping, and quickly and generously filling everyone’s cups, meant that I got many “thank yous” and a cup that never ran dry....

keep your eye on midway USA. I’ve seen shotgun primers several times the last few months.

Do you consider me a friend? Midwest shooting supply in Lomira, WI has Federal Match small pistol primers right now. They haven't had a powder delivery in over a month, but at the moment they have match small pistol primers at $50/brick. They do have la good variety of large pistol primers too. There is a limit of 1,000 primers per person. And u have to go there to pick them up. Lomira is about 20 miles south of Fond du Lac, WI These are the first primers I've seen since January.
