Have a chance to pick one of these up. Don't need or want it, but it's cheap. Has some surface rust and the rear sight is gone. Has one 10 round magazine and a cheapie 4x32 Bushnell scope. It has to be worth $60, doesn't it?
I don't expect a lot from it, but are they reliable?
Capable of an inch at 25 yards?

I'll ditto what Mosin Bubba said,,,
That hollow plastic stock does seem toy-like,,,
But the gun is reliable and more accurate than it's price should allow.

It does like to run clean though,,,
If you need a manual send me your e-mail address,,,
I'll scan it into an Adobe .PDF file and e-mail it back to you

It should easily do that at 50 yards,,,
Mine does.

I appreciate the offer and the input. I actually ended up getting it, and the box with manual came with it.

Ran some CCI Quiet's through it behind the shop at work. Had to shift it manually though. Will run some HV through it when I get home and check function. If it runs ok, I'll check accuracy later. I have a nephew-in-law that just turned 15. He's shot with me a couple times, so this is going to be "his" rifle if his folks will allow it.

Im sure he will like it!

Ives shot my buddy's new-school Plinkster quite a bit. Only the occasional jam, and accurate if you can master the terribly creepy trigger.

My vintage Plinkster does have a better trigger, and is also quite accurate, but must be cleaned every 2-300 rounds to be reliable at all, and even then only with round-nose bullets. Believe it or not, the stocks on those were pressed FOAM, painted to look like wood!

You can get them for $100-125 brand new if you time it right. So $60 ain't too shabby as long as its in decent shape.

As others have said, like many 22 rifles it does feel kind of toyish (the one I held did for sure), though there are options for aftermarket stocks that could help that. If you want to lighten the trigger a pou d or two, M*CARBO offers a lighter sear spring for around $10.

Not surprising that the Quiets won't cycle it. Standard velocity and up should work, I'd avoid "hyper" velocity stuff though for the sake of longevity.

I suspect that these are the same gun as the Rossi RS22, with a different stock. They seem to work well, especially considering the price, and magazines interchange.

I still have my 702 Plinkster I purchased brand new as my first firearm in 2008. I would certainly say for the money ($120 or so after tax/background check) it has been fantastic. I did break a firing pin early on which mossberg was happy to send a replacement for and no issues at all since then. I couldn’t say how many rounds it’s seen, but at least several thousand.

The magazines are hit or miss. I’ve had a couple 10 rounders that just never would work right despite tinkering, but the others seem to work just fine. I have one of the 25 round mags which seems to work though I honestly haven’t fired it more than a couple hundred rounds through it. I’ll find out how it does loaded long term the next time I get the chance to shoot it.

Here’s my “unique” configuration at the moment. I’m working on bulpuping it
