In this thread we like and carry 1911s

My daily carry for over 30 years. A pre-enhanced series 80 sans FP block and an action job with a custom speed bump GS by Teddy Jacobson. I altered the TS to make it more lefty friendly. An old Summer Special to boot. I donno, probably 100K rounds without a bobble. Yeah, it's scratched up; goes with the territory.

Nothing better than the look of honest wear on a 1911.

Now if you're going to use a Dia De Los Muertos background. You need the Pistola in 38 Super to go with it.. :D

I ought to know, but is that the AMY Backup or the Dectonics?
Detonics Combat Master. Won it on a police auction in Texas and had it shipped home to WA. It was a mess when I got it, mostly dirty and tape residue. I'm currently working out some failure-to-extract issues, but parts will be here Friday. So far I'm into it for around $450.

Detonics Combat Master.
That cleaned up nicely.
The slide looks scrubbed--but, it also comes from a time before billboard rollmarks, too.

I had ordered a set of fancy hardwood grips--either cocobolo or goncalvo alves--and the set I was sent was for a Dectonics (and not the Officer's set I wanted). Had the hardest time shifting those. (I'm pretty sure I swapped them for some 1903 grips.)

I did a detail strip and cleaned all the parts with brake cleaner. The stainless surfaces on the slide and frame just got wiped with brake cleaner and a rag- no scrubby pad or anything.

I can restore the slide and frame with some judicious bead-blasting which would get rid of the idiot scratch, (I saved the auction picture to show it was there before I owned it) but it doesn't look too bad the way it is. There IS a Detonics rollmark that got washed out by bad lighting in the photo
