Tommy.duncan: You noted that you were researching your recently acquired Krag. Are you familiar with a U.S. Martial Arms Collector and Springfield Research Newsletter? I was a subscriber until a year or two ago, and hope it's still in operation because they have spent decades going through the offical records at the National Archives and other places, looking for information on US. Martial Arms, including your Krag. They have the most complete database there is on the subject. A subscription used to be $35 and you after you had a subscription, you could submit a question, but they did charge more for detailed information. Not a lot of folks know about them, so I thought I might mention this to you. Hope it helps. Please share what you learn. Thanks again

I’m currently researching elk rifles for the wife, we’ve finally booked our first elk hunt. I’ve spend decades hunting deer but this will be our first elk adventure, and Iowa is slug or straight wall so she’ll need a rifle. I’d already bought mine a while back. It would be a lot easier if shops around me had anything in stock so she could actually handle some in person.

Nice! I’m gunna have to get one.
I figured, Lee gets kinda looked down on sometimes, so since you’re researching... I’d throw in my $.02
Same here. I do, however deprime brass with a Lee decapping die instead of the decapper/sizer die
I decap with the sizing die, after they’ve been tumbled. You give them a bath with pins?

No, walnut media. Some of the brass have sealed primers and are hard to deprime. Since I’m loading them on a Lee Loadmaster I prefer to deprime all on a separate single stage press.

308 bolt action with 10 round magazine capacity in left handed version, 223 bolt action with same, peep sights for my Marlin 336, & fixed 3x or 4x scope for my Henry H001 22.

For what I’m looking for it seems like the most common die set, at least for x54r is RCbS. Lee does make one that includes a shell holder but they’re out of stock everywhere.

RCbS is in stock in a lot of places. Is that because Lee is more popular or does RCBS just have a larger production volume?
Huh, hard to say! RCBS is available? Get that! I have never had a problem with any of their dies either. Most of my sets are RCBS. I do like their customer service

I've been thinking I may get a free float hand guard when AR parts become more available again. Not much selection right now.

A recoil reducer for y BT99 so I can start trap shooting again. I had a pacemaker implanted a week back. Good thing I'm right handed.
I had never thought of that, the placement of a pacemaker and a lefty.

Btw, I'm a lefty mostly, but shoot right-handed.

Nothing. Been a rough year with home repairs. I'm broke.
Sound wisdom in not looking at or for things that you can't currently afford.

My own research noted above is of zero or nearly zero cost in its effect. Spent too damn much this year and made too damn little.

Todd.

20ga O/U field grade shotgun. Have wanted one for 30 years since I let a Miroku Weatherby slip past for the $800 I didn't have. Can't decide: cheap Turkish gun to thrash about the woods or "forever" B gun...to thrash about the woods.

Been researching a 1911 Erfurt luger that was initially issued to the 2nd Royal Saxon Pioneer Battalion Nr. 22, but then reissued to Infantry Regiment 139. After World War I, histories were published for many of the German units. Unfortunately, none appear to have been written for the 22nd Pioneer Battalion. However, a unit history was produced for IR 139. There is a small note there that explains Pioneer Battalion 22 gave their "unnecessary" firearms to IR 139 in the spring of 1915. During the research for this pistol, one other item that turned up was a postcard. It is a New Years postcard that was sent by a member of the 2nd Replacement Company of Pioneer Battalion 22 on December 29, 1915. Since it's that time of year, just 105 years later, thought some of you might be interested in seeing it.

With a new HK VP-9L O.R on the way to my FFL, I'm researching Suppressor Sites, # 2 Optic Plates and Reflex Sites. Probably got 20 "Notify Me" requests pending!:D
