Dont know if I was this bad pre-internet, but it seems I am always in various stages of researching the best possible item for the job these days. And I suffer from 'paralysis from over-analysis' at times. On the current list is tactical flashlights, mounting systems to lever actions( always a bit of a PIA), and sleeping mats for backpack hunts.

One of the more interesting ones I got sucked into was researching fixatives and methods for less obnoxious sample fixation and storage (only ever used davidson, and alcohol).....all cause a buddy if mine texted me and asked where he could get Formaldehyde....at 11:15pm......
Turns out....Amazon....tho i guess im calling around tomorrow to see if i can get some locally he can play mad scientist.

That little side (show) project taken care of, ive been stuck on optics again, and ill eventually cycle over to looking at boyds stocks as i try to decide on colors for the new Xbolts stock.....or if ill restock......

But yeah i do often spend hours researching stuff before buying, building, and especially before trying something stupid.

Found a savage model 5 .22 from the 30’s the guy wants $60 for it. Says it had feeding issues. From my research looks like a number of parts are available from numrich if I need them, looked at a diagram of the feeding system and seems to definitely be worth my time as the gun looks be in great shape for its age.
Also need a taller front sight for my savage 340

Evidence based self defense.
ASP- Active Self Protection- Youtube channel.
Goes over real world video captured incidents where LEO and Civilians alike cover their ASPs!

Pretty good stuff, the host, John Correa gives good pointers.

Lots of situations have common themes, which helps guide my decision making as a lawful self defender. It has helped shape my thinking.

I put all speculation and mythology aside, and focus strictly on 'situations that have actually happened' to help shape my Attitude, Skills and my Plan as a self defender.
Several new scenarios weekly. Highly recommended.

Hi...
I do a lot of online research but usually very little is firearm related.
My personal fields of interest are military history and paleontology. There are a lot of online resources particularly related to paleontology. Most of my military history research is conducted in my own rather extensive library that I have acquired over the last several decades and to which I am constantly adding.

Love paleontology! I’m also fascinated (and majored in) Anthropology. Long dead fossilized animals/plants and long dead fossilized humans/human ancestors.
