Howdy everyone I'm Greg from Texas.
I have perused this site several times over the past few years, And I'm not sure why haven't joined. Looking forward to sharing information and learning from everyone's expertise. I am an "extremely amateur" antique Firearm collector. I own just a few things Since I started collecting pre 1898 firearms.

Welcome aboard, Greg. We are glad you decided to jump in. We are all just doing the best we can with what we've got. There is plenty of good info here and we aren't afraid to ask.

Cheers from Michigan
I found THR doing some load research the past few months, figured I might as well become a part of the forum.
I've seen a few names on here I recognize from the old reloadersnest.
I've picked up some great information here

Hi Everyone, this is Dave from California. I found this site while researching muzzle velocities of pistol cartridge carbines and discovered a wealth of information about firearms in general. I appreciate all the great info and insight found on THR.

Welcome to Dave and BP491! Thanks for joining up and I hope we can continue to provide info and benefit from your experience. As you have likely noted, we try to be civil and avoid hot buttons, and that helps the flow of useful information. Enjoy!

Hi there all! I`ve been reading up for a bit on here and thought I`d just jump in! I mean I can`t see all the cool pictures without logging in so why not  Plus all this stuff is what I like doing, shootin, plinkin, large an small caliber, short and long range...
I`m mainly a bowhunter though but love to shoot and smell that burnt powder.

Welcome, Bottomlands. Shooting and archery are a lot of fun, there is always more to learn, and fun is best when it is shared. We are looking forward to the benefit of your experience.

Good evening!

Am new here, currently in California, bay area specifically. I enjoy recreational range shooting with friends, casual pistol/bullseye practice, F-Class (Target Rifle), Reloading, Highpower/Service rifle shooting, and ISSF-style & 3 positions air rifle shooting.

Happy to finally join the forum :)

Thanks, and yes they are! One of my thoughts has always been, if you ain`t having fun, why bother with it?
I am still figuring the sight out but I`ll get there!

Welcome, heyboy and Geno929. I presume heyboy is from Have Gun Will Travel 50+ years ago. A great series. Geno929, better watch out, we could be twins and that would cause you nothing but trouble. We are glad you both found us and look forward to more shooting and less craziness once the ammo supply clears up!

Maryo, what took you so long? :D Just kidding, of course. You seem like our kind of people, and we are happy to have you and your experience on board. Welcome!

Oh, you know. Saving the best for last.:) Thank you! This forum is a wealth of wisdom. I've gained information from here in the last 10 years more or less and it's time to chime in when I can.

Hey y’all from Arkansas. first post here.
I’ve been hunting most of my life. Was an avid deer hunter for many years.
I get to go out west and call coyotes on occasion and hope to do more.
My go to has been a 26-06 heavy varmint on a Mauser action. I used this for everything for years. I recently got bit by the AR bug.
I found this place by looking up reloading info and equipment.
Been reloading with Lee single stage and hand prep tools for years. Only loading what I use for Deer and coyotes. mom no trying to reload 223 on a much grander scale. Doing a lot of studying on loads and equipment.
Thank y’all for letting me join and ramble. I hope to be of some help to some some day. God bless
Hillbilly

Welcome, AR. Hillbilly! You seem like our kind of people, and we hope you are comfortable here. There is a lot of experience to share and each addition makes us better.

Hello all!
Somewhat new to shooting, having had rifle experience in my youth and some more recent pistol experience. I also shoot compound bows. My ultimate goal is to become an NRA Pistol Instructor. Just picked up a pistol for the first time in 10 years and hit the range, and didn't do so badly.
Also trying to get my kids involved. Waiting on my Fire Arm ID card to get them a Ruger 10/22 and eventually a 9mm pistol for me once I try a bunch out. For better or worse, I live in NJ, and am not thrilled with the 2A infringements here. Once the kids are out of public school, I will likely move to FL.
My goal here is to find some level headed people to talk guns with. I've been a member of other forums, and they rise to the level of fanatical and if you don't agree with them, even in the slightly, it becomes a mudslinging fest were all kinds of name calling goes down. I'm 47 years old, and don't need that kind of drama in my life.

Welcome NuShootr. You are not alone in noting the tendency of on line groups to burst into flames of acrimonious contention. Moderators here work hard to maintain a civil conversation, and discourage wandering into the weeds or off the rails. The idea is to benefit from each other's experience, not to provide a bully pulpit for the troubled. We are glad you found us and we look forward to your participation.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and new to shooting. I jumped on the bandwagon last May thinking I'd need something for home defense, and discovered this forum a few months later, as I researched various ways to demystify guns and how they work, in order to become more knowledgeable about safe handling. Being a California boy transplanted to South Dakota for 17 years now, I figured it was something I should experience and stop fearing. I've started to develop a burning interest in historical wheel guns, particularly ones that come out of the tradition of the Victorian Old West.

I also like the pictures.

Welcome to the community, handofgod. Regardless of how you got here and what experience you bring, we're glad to have you on board. There are plenty of opportunities to shoot in South Dakota, although the weather makes that interesting some of the time. Thanks for joining!

Thank you, rust collector. I see you're in Pierre. I was there about 2 1/2 weeks ago and found a neat little gun shop that had some very cool old pieces. Do you know if or where a person is allowed to go plinking outdoors in the state?

Howdy ya'll. New to the forum. Been shooting for 50+ years. Dad was a Marine that served in Korea, my brother went into the Navy and I went into the Air Force.
I was a 462 (Bomb Loader) in MMS and wound up hanging out at the armory since we weren't at war and I got tired of ping pong and darts.
Pretty soon the armorers had me stripping, cleaning and repairing M16's. I had qualified and carried one when I transported nukes during generation (Played full on pretend war) or Up & Down'd a bird on the pad.
So when I left the USAF I started collecting and working on that platform. It is a very nicely designed weapon and it will give you obvious clues when it's not functioning properly.

Started reloading about 20 years ago and completely enjoy doing that. I Have a Lee Turret press and a Dillon XL750 with all the bells and whistles plus some very necessary upgrades.

Located in the upstate of SC, grew up in So Cal.

Looking forward to learning From Ya'll.

KBN, welcome aboard. Sounds like you have significant experience and we can always use that. More importantly, you have stumbled upon a good group of humans who enjoy shooting and each other's company. Please make yourself at home and pitch in where you see fit. Hit the THR primer and check out the sections you find interesting. I have a son in the Air Force and appreciate those who have served.
