Dave, you should fit right in with this bunch. Welcome aboard, and thanks for checking in. I have just shy of 40 years in hunter safety instruction experience, so it's always good to hear from others that care about such things.

Life is a balancing act, but it looks like your attitude control and guidance systems are functioning well.

Hullo all.

I actually found this forum while digging through some 2003-era news archives. Figured since I just bought my first gun (S&W MP Shield 2) I might as well stick around and lurk.
I grew up around my dad's collection but took a while to get off my butt and start getting my own gear - hindsight is 2020, ayy. I figure once I've got home defense covered I'll look into hunting gear at some point - there's not much by way of hunting in my area, but it'll be nice to have an outdoor hobby if I bug out to somewhere quiet in the future. Even more so considering I work with computers for a living (not FAANG, thankfully).
Aside from guns, I'm always down to talk about good food, music, and wrangling electronics. :p

Nice to be here! :)

Hello, Monty, and welcome. We all traveled different paths to get here, but it's a friendly place with quite a bit of information. Thanks for the introduction. I hope you continue to find material of interest here and feel comfortable about adding yours to the knowledge base. It does feel good to get outdoors and reacquaint with nature. Enjoy!

Hi guys! My name is Kobert.
I'm new to this forum, but not "new" to this topic.
I live in Orlando and I hunt and shoot. Glad to meet everyone
Kobert, I'm didn't see your post right away, so I didn't mean to ignore you. Welcome to the group, which is only made better because people like you pitch in and help out. Thank you for checking in and I hope you enjoy the company!

Hi everyone,
Long time lurker as well, thanks to all here who share time and information.
I have not done any reloading since I was teenager when my grandad taught me how to reload rounds for our 30-30's an 06's. He passed in 89 and I packed up all the equipment and have stored and hauled it around all this time. I finally have place to set it up and time to use it.
His last entry in the journal was Jan 1987. I started new entry on the next page the other night. Still using his 1960's RCBS press, dies, and even some bullets, but I did invest a Hornady digital scale and handloading manual. I do have some questions to ask later about some of his data and Lyman hand book. I still use the same gun that he and I loaded rds for, but it was a strange feeling to grab the handle of that press after all this time.
I've always been an avid hunter and shooter so most of my rifle collection are bolt guns, with a few exceptions.
I had the presence of mind to pick up a bulk pack of LR primers last year, so my loading will be limited to rifles until I can get some pistol primers.
Thank you for letting me introduce myself and I look forward to conversing with you soon.
Jerry

I presume heyboy is from Have Gun Will Travel 50+ years ago. A great series.

That was a great show but I had forgotten that character. In the finale of my RR career I would affectionately talk down to a few of my favorite young journeymen "hey boy". It was endearing when they returned the gesture. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, Hugger-4641. You are in good shape since you can roll your own. I am sure the folks in the reloading section will help you with feedback on your loading data. Always good to confirm with other manuals and info sources. Glad to have you on board.

Hi everyone. Short timer lurking. My interest is in handguns, rifles (just purchased a Henry BB .357), and I just started putting my reloading center together in December. Now if only I can find primers and powder...

Welcome, reedman. Are you a woodwind player, or do you just enjoy duck hunting out among the reeds and rushes? Regardless, we are happy to have you sign on, and hope we can commiserate as we wait for the kinks to come out of the supply line. I am using this time to improve my reloading setup, but am anxious to spend more range time. Best regards!

Thanks for the add! Been lurking here for quite sometime. Decided to join, have some questions, and hopefully some answers.
Born into firearms and reloading 60 years ago. Hopefully things will get better, but I m not holding my breath.

Greetings, tater! Thanks for the intro. Sounds like you know what you are getting into, but I will say that every additional sane member makes the experience better for all. We hope you find something helpful and will help out when you have experience to share. We are going through challenging times, but the future is what we make of it.

Hi everyone. I’ve been to the High Road many times before. Every time I research a gun related question I end up here. I figured I might as well join up and ask a few questions or maybe offer up some advice. I like all types of guns for all types uses. Hunting birds, whitetails & small game. Target shooting from a bench to clays and paper. Hate to sound like a snob but I remember reading someone said “life to short to shoot a ugly gun” I’ll shoot a ugly one but I like the pretty ones the best. Hope I help out in the future.

Barnfixer, we're glad you signed on. More experienced members mean we can do a better job. I like ugly guns and other tools because that usually means they're experienced and I don't need to worry about them. I am also a sucker for a pretty gun, but they are less likely to be used. Anyway, you should fit in just fine here and we hope you enjoy the community.

Greetings everyone!

A new member, albeit an old (literally...) lurker here...

Been involved with guns most of my life - shooting calibers ranging from .177" up to 203mm and many others in between ;).

Currently enjoying plinking, target, IDPA, military rifling, clay, and hunting. Prompted by my son, after waffling on the issue for a several months I decided to get into reloading. Most of my information quests led me to this here The High Road.
So far, my most notable revelation about reloading was that this is a lousy time to start this hobby... :(
At least at first, I'll probably be spending most of my time in the reloading forum.

Good to be here, I'm and looking forward to learn from the communal knowledge here.

Cheers, Zevi.

Welcome to the monkey house, Zevi. :D We are glad you are here. Timing is poor for reloading components, but the empty cases should be deprimed, conditioned, cleaned, annealed, trimmed and ready to go when primers come back! Meanwhile, it will be good to have folks with your experience on our panel of experts. Thanks for the introduction!

My name is Adam and I'm a shooter from Texas. I enjoy hunting, mostly local stuff (in TSE Texas mostly duck, though I enjoy hunting deer and hog if it hadn't become such a pain to get access to land), but time has made me into more of a recreational shooter. I enjoy trap and skeet, and am working at getting into USPSA and ultimately 2-gun and PRS. Reloading is a big part of the hobby for me, and tinkering with loads is a lot of fun. The physics that governs internal ballistics fascinates me, as does discussion of mechanical attributes of good, bad, or indifferent current and historical firearms.

Welcome, Adam. You should fit right in. With all the big game country Texas has, it's a shame that ownership is so concentrated, but that's apparently how it has worked out over the years. Anyway, it sounds like you have broad experience and we can always use good company. Glad you found us!

hello , i just signed up yesterday my name is mike and I am from delaware . I enjoy shooting pistols and rifles I am getting started in reloading a bit late in the game but better late than never .

Welcome, Mike. Congratulations on the classy ride! Not many of the classic muscle cars survived, so they are cultural artifacts as well as prized project(ile)s. Thank you for signing up, and for adding your knowledge and experience to our info base. I hope you find useful information and make new friends along the way.

Hi you all just signed up to keep up on current events, love collecting and shooting firearms. Ex military where the big guns are.
I plan to fight to the end! Keep on shooting people!

Wyatt, welcome. We are indeed big on firearms but not on shooting people. :D It's always good to have new faces with lots of experience, and we hope you will feel at home here. If you are new to the board, take a peek at the THR primer in the general gun discussion section, and get comfortable.
