BladeHq is making auto conversions of the Boker Kalashnikov for the 10% of us who are left handed.

I ordered this a few days ago on Sat., arrived quickly on Wed.

The knife is well finished with a seemingly non slip finish over cast aluminum scales, includes a lanyard hole. Nice jimping on the blade and scales, and the auto opening is fast. Weighs 3.7 oz. and is made in Taiwan.

The blade is sculptured looking, but not double edged, material is AUS-8 and is 3.25" long.

Even the blade pivot is decorative, with tiny writing of Kalashnikov in English and Cyrillic, and comes in a cute fitted foam lined cardboard box shaped like an AK magazine.

Not many options for lefties, this is a winner for the price of $45, other colors for $5 less.

Kizer, kancept, protech, and chris reeve make lefty knives too. But they're not cheap. That boker is actually a pretty good knife.

The Benchmade Axis lock, and the good ole back lock are ambidextrous, as is Spyderco's ball bearing / caged ball bearing lock. Spyderco also makes left handed versions of the base model versions of the Military and Para Military 2.

Forgive my ignorance on this matter, but I am a leftie without the slightest idea of what makes a knife left handed! After buttering my toast in the morning, I gazed at the knife for a few seconds wondering if it was a left or right handed knife? Go figure, It must be one of those new fangled ambidextrous knives.
Someone please explain the differences.

It's typically an issue on folders, where some locks are not ambidextrous. Frame locks and liner locks are typically set up for a righty to one hand close, by pushing the lock bar aside with their thumb toward their fingers, as the knife is held. A lefty would lift their thumb over the lock bar and pull it toward their palm. Left handed liner locks and frame locks are reversed, as is the LH version of the Spyderco Compression Lock.

Chisel grinds are also handed, even on fixed blades. A chisel grind blade, like a grafter's blade, will cut differently for a righty and a lefty, since it's only ground on one side.

The life of a lefty is all about adapting so when offered the opportunity to buy ambi or left handed I vote with my money. So I’m going to give this knife a shot.

In this particular case, the button to open the automatic knife is on the right scale, so positioned for the left thumb to operate. Usually they're made for right thumbs.

Thanks to you Speedo, I can understand the button switchblade knife, but Ugaarguy the frame and the liner locks are more than I can handle now. Googleing the two shows examples of both with views from about 100 yards. There is no detail shown.
I might have examples of both. My folding box cutter knife has a button in the handle and my NRA pocket knife has a spring inside the handle that locks the blade. You have both done wonders, however, in schooling me about knives. Thank you. I'll bet I am not the only member here who is confused/ignorant about knives.
My guess, about the butter knife was correct though. It's an ambidextrous knife. :)

That's pretty neat, I have three of their right hand model. I am left handed but carry my knife clipped in my right pocket, need to keep the left hand free for the Glock:)

I never thought I would like an automatic knife, but I do enjoy my Boker Strike, which is a close cousin. Mighty handy!
I have BM Barrage and Violi. They're assisted opening which is a kissing cousin to a push button auto. I like them. They are also ambidextrous by moving the pocket clip.
